I don't post very often anymore because a lot of people whom use this forum are close minded and blinkered just because I don't agree with your opinion it doesn't mean my opinion is wrong or yours is thats what discussion forums are for oposeing opinions on different subjects that are debated about in a friendly manor !
This isn't about you son ! So if you've got nothing constructive to add that's not insulting you should stay quiet and not abuse other forum members

This is Wigan Warriors, the most famous sporting brand in the world, The current challenge cup champions, and who are sitting top of the league, and they have just signed a highly sought after England international who plays the central pivot position of scrum Half.
Are we to believe Wigan Warriors were not operating at full cap? especially as they have had to get Sam Tomkins a part time job to supplement his income, or is Matty Smith being paid peanuts......?

if peoples eyebrows havent at the very least been Raised by this mid season signing then there are some very trusting people on these boards.

when we were a rank average team and we signed an international Scrum Half for just three games we had to let someone else go.

whilst i'm not about to say that Wigan are cheating i'm curious as to how they've done it.............because i'd like us to have a go at it....

I remember people having a go at us with the Chris Hicks -Joel Monaghan situation until a clever poster came on and underlined the exact rule and shut everyone up, now banter aside in a live cap risking penalties and reputation why would ANY club risk it now?

Surely the people running Wigan are not stupid people, i'm sure they employ people who know the rules regards Salary Cap AND I'M DAMN SITE SURE THEY KNOW THEM BETTER THAN YOU PADDERS.

Speaking of constructive tell me how you know Wigan are breaking the rules in fact tell me how Warrington are under the cap.

The problem I have all of this is that it is pure conjecture. Not one person on this board knows what the situation is regarding Wigan’s salary cap. So why make up these allegations up? I don’t understand it. Even if, in the future, they are found to be over, it doesn’t change the fact that you made it all up in the first place.

Don't worry, Padders knows nothing and is simply throwing unfounded allegations about....Its similar to when fans of various clubs similarly accuse Wire of going over the cap, whenever we make a new signing.

I think about 99.9% of folk on these forums know bugger all about any SL clubs finances, though if you read all the crap that is banded about on here, you'd think most posters are financial experts.

I saw the story at my desk this morning and my first reaction was "where have they got the money from for that?" (money being salary)

Im pretty sure ive seen a piece early on in the season where they (the Wigan club) said they were at full cap or no room on the cap for signings. i'm certain ive seen apiece where they utilised the rule allowing them (and other clubs) to exceed the cap in order to retain English players i.e Sam Tomkins.

But it doesnt change the fact that Wigan have the same ambitions, playing squad, and clout in signing players as we do. And if i thought (clue "thought"icon_wink.gifwe where going through a season hoping to win stuff with enough room to make a quality signing half way through the season i'd be asking serious questions about the allocation of our funds....

Matty Smith is an average replacement at best - he will perform well in a few games and will keep things ticking over for them

Classic Wigan signing this. We've heard Rogues et al banging on for years about how the young halfbacks they have in the academy will be England internationals for many years.

Then one bloke breaks his leg, they sign the first guy they can think of and those kids are Widnes-bound.

Still I'm sure the next one coming through is the REAL deal.

and plenty of times i have seen rogues say Hampshire and Williams are to young at the moment and they are. no doubt Sam Powell would have seen game time this season if he hadn't broken hes leg and mellor doesn't look the same since he broke hes patella, both of them was England academy players as well.

if i was a wire fan id be more worried about your own teams problems like whose going to replace briers and partner O'Brien don't think richie is up to it.

He is obviously a talented player but has never really stood out for me other than when he went back to Saints for the playoffs. He could turn out to be one of there best signings you never know or it could be a disaster. Atleast they are giving an English half back a chance so best of luck to them.

I think Smith is bang average personally, but fact is he's the best out there in terms of a british HB that's available.

We need another HB for next season as well, not sure Mellor is the answer and I think the two young academy lads aren't ready yet so we'll see.

Be happy to take O'Brien off your hands though......

Thanks for your concern its really, really appreciated. However with Briers, Myler, Ratchford and O'Brien as Super league experienced half-backs signed for next season I ain't losing sleep just yet.

Remind me which half-backs with Super League experience have Wigan got signed-up for next season?

O'Brien is looking a classy player, ratchford has found hes position at fullback and isn't as good at 6, and myler is never going to take you to old trafford and win the grand final. how many games has briers played this season? i don't believe tony smith is just resting him.

but if your talking about just cover for half backs then i would say from Wigan Sean O'loughlin and Sam Tomkins can do the job.

I'm not talking about cover. Wigan have only one half-back with first team experience signed for next year. You have just named your full-back and loose-forward, if they play half-back you need to replace them plus its for this reason I never mentioned Grix, Bridge, etc as possible half-backs.

And if you think Ratchford isn't up to it at half-back then Matty Smith is going to be one hell of a disappointment for you.

So why should Warrington fans be nore worried about our half-backs next season compared to a team that to date have Matty Smith?

well you are talking about cover as you mention ratchford being a half back, and i have watched him alot even playing for st cuthberts and he wasn't anything special in the 6 position alot better or fullback. plenty have said myler aint up for to it.

sam tomkins was a half back and still looked class in that position so i wont worry about it if we have to put him in at 6 next year with either russell or murphy at fullback.

O'Loughlin as a replacement half back?? You go for it.
