I know it's not your fault Gary, but I'd have thought the people in charge might have decided not to schedule the parade at the exact time two of the four best supported football clubs in Warrington are kicking off against each other.

1pm-ish would have been far better for the armchair football fan who would want to go the parade then get home/the pub in time for the match.

If you want to watch football then watch football. I'd rather it be later so the hangover is less of a problem.

been a life long Liverpool fan but the premier league means zero to me where Wires are concerned always have and always will. If anyone thinks its an Attraction to Watch Mario Balloteli ar$e around instead of Watching Wires parade a Major Trophy of the sporting world around then fair do's, but like i said I'm a Liverpool fan and days of homecoming parades showing off major trophies are long gone..........So i'll take them where i can.............

In the age of sky+ I don't think that is really a problem, the bigger concern is that the last bus leaves the station at 1735. Hopefully the council will pay WBT to put buses on like they did twice in 2010, but with the way things are with cuts etc they may be less willing to fund them.

Also, disappointing that it is conditional on us winning and it would appear the route is to be shortened.

I know we are not used to losing a CC final but i was there for the ones in 1975 and 1990 which we lost. There was still a presentation at the town hall attended by thousands of people but the route was more direct and faster.

The timing is not so much dictated by the council but by the time that the team will return to Warrington from London. If that clashes with a couple of unimportant kick abouts then so-be-it. Personally I would have one win or lose and would have it finishing at the HJ.

Now we've won it twice recently, the novelty of just getting there has gone. On that basis, I understand only having one if we win. At least we're honest about it; I recall Saints cancelling a homecoming because of a power failure one year which happened to coincide with them winning dick all.

What is wrong with liking sports other than Rugby League? Plenty of people like Football AND Rugby and as far as I am aware it isn't a criminal offence.

It was only seven years ago that there was almost 1,000,000 people lining the streets of Liverpool to welcome the European Cup home. Although I agree it's not likely to happen again in the near future.

As Uncle Rico said, what's wrong with liking Rugby League and Football? I can never understand this attitude. Remember you're in Warrington, smack bang in the middle of two of the biggest footballing cities on the planet, not Featherstone or Workington.

That and the 2010 Wire one are the only two homecoming parades I've ever been to, and I was fresh off the plane from Istanbul when I went to the 2005 one after being awake for about 40 hours straight!

I'm not into them really, and I'm not bothered to be missing it personally, but the 12 year old lad I'm taking to his first Wembley trip would love it, and he's a Man City fan, so if it was earlier in the day I'd have been tempted to go the parade with him then find a family friendly place we could watch the football in together after it. As it's at 4pm though I'll just go to Anfield as planned. That's why I was questioning the timing.

I too am a footie fan (Liverpool) but the chance to see my home town RL team bring a major trophy back to Warrington wins hands down for me..

I'll be there win or lose, and I sure many others will be too. Well we would, but the council won't be bothering.

"Celebrating" getting to a final but not winning it is small time behaviour for teams who hardly ever get to finals.

It might have been relevant to have a parade win or lose in 2009 when we were a small time club ourselves, but as we're now in our third final in four years and have won the previous two, we (the team) should only turn out if there's a cup to hold aloft again.

There is NO doubt where my priorities are on August 26th, when we're parading a trophy around the Town Centre

City can be Sky+ed....as far as I know, journeys around the town centre of a Northern town, parading a cup from a minority(ish) sport, will not hit the screens of national broadcasters.

I fully expect to see Briers/Morley/Smith et al be holding a large silver object on Sunday 26th, in the environs of Warrington.

Just another excuse for the scrotes from Warrington to go on the lash.
