| Ok so a Challenge Cup Final win so some silverware but ultimately a club with our resources should be aiming for top spot and a GF win.
More to the point, our style of play has been nothing short of clueless. If we are to be held in the same respect as Wigan. Saints and Leeds then our mindset needs to change.
Our pack needs an overhall with too many living off previous seasons accolades.
Ratchford, Clark, Austin and Philbin - Superb
Akouala, Charnley, BMM, Cooper, Currie and Hughes - Decent even if inconsistent.
The rest have been very underwhelming. Our priorities need to be a couple of new props, a centre, and to be more ruthless with our underperforming players. Other than Widdop, our recruitment looks very poor compared with others which is what worries me.

| We need props. Hill and Cooper are 32 an 31 respectively, they are only going down hill from now on. Philbin has really come on but Akauola has been hit and miss and doesn't do the minutes whilst Tasi was an absolute waste of a jersey.
Loose forward has been a problem for a few seasons, Jason Clark gives us nothing going forward.
We're missing one or two centres. Toby King may still develop (he's 23). Burrell is a salary-cap-free gamble, no certainty that he'll make the transition and not necessarily as a centre. Ashton may move towards the middle but he needs to show that he can step up / time to develop.
Currie needs to regain some form next season or move on, he's most likely taking up a big chunk of the cap.
The rest is down to coaching.

| With Widdop and Austin you'd hope the shackles will come off...they better had. A bloody good attacking centre is needed and J Clark to become droppable whilst he remains. Saying all that if we don't sign one hard nosed quality prop that leads by example then we're knackered. That should be a huge priority.

Exactly &, if it is true about Patton leaving ,we will have no half back cover for when Austin gets injured again.

Thanks for that.
And anyone have an idea of how the 2020 salary cap is distributed between them, should be able to see where the value for money isn’t

It's pretty clear that Jason Clark and Ben Currie are currently the biggest waste of salary cap space.

| To be fair currie will be on a very good wage due to his ability before his injuryand he wasn't incredible this season. Overall though its great to see him finish the season injury free. I'm expecting more from him next season I think he will be more like his old self with a full pre season behind him and the confidence of putting a good run of games together. Definitely gets the benefit of any doubt for me, I think he's another player who doesn't benefit from our playing 'style'.

| When considering style of play we need to consider that we were without our two first choice half backs for the final third of the season when our style of play fell away.
Prop x1
Centre x1
Outside back looks covered with that kid from Swinton.
I’d be tempted to push Hughes to 13 for 2020 and start Currie & BMM in the back row. So potentially add another backrower.
Should have plenty of cap space available.

| Benefit of the doubt for Currie this year although I was alarmed when he was treading water chasing back v Cas the other night first half I think it ended up with Lineham showing the player the inside and Ratchford making the tackle

Completely agree with this, Hughes looked very good the times i've seen him play at 13. BMM has shed alot of excess weight and definately played longer minutes when he came back from injury, and his best form was at Salford when he started games.
For me we need a solid old school good minutes prop or 2, Gelling will take Over from Goodwin, not a massive fan but i'm willing to give him a chance.
Ashton is a very fast player and could develop in to a great super league winger, Kibula i've never seen play and until he was mentioned 2-3 weeks on here before the club announced him i'd never heard of him. So i have no opinion other than lets see what he can do and if he can develop whilst with us.
Burrell i really think is too big and not agile enough for a league centre, and i hope he moves in to the pack. Get a good pre-season behind him and we'll see what he can do next year.

Talk about Ashton ,it's to be hoped he gets better service than our other wingers or he will be just an extra prop & i can't really see any of the new intake of youngsters improving during their time at Warrington ,not with our present coaching set up. They will finish up making up numbers in the A team while the management ponder the accounts to bring in more under performing overseas players for inflated wages.
