Anthony England going to Wakefield ?

It's fare to say I've not been the first in line to fly a flag for him.
He has the build to be the best forward in the world...

Considering his height with build he has been posted on here by others of having a low metre carry.
It seems that if he caught a pass and fell over on the spot the right way, he would improve on his carry statistic...

Just a guess, but reading between the lines we are looking to sign another Aussie prop and are therefore looking at clubs to off load England. Its perhaps a bit harsh on him, but he has consistently failed to impress at the HJ and is another TS gamble that has not paid off. Not heard anything yet about Wheeler either. Is he being given another year out of curtesy ? Again, not the lads fault if he is injury prone, but we can ill afford passengers after two poor seasons.

Thought i saw Wheeler on a few pictures at the members day, so I would presume he'd be around next year.

As for England, I think we all hoped he'd turn out the same way as Chris Hill, unfortunately that hasn't happened.

Didn't Gary Wheeler have an option for a second year in his contract? I'm sure that was mentioned at the time he signed for you.

So Hill. Sims, Dodds, Evans, King Harrison and maybe Westwood to cover 8,10 & 13 plus rotation
1 long term injury and the rest are playing every game.

With Currie, Hughes, Wilde, Laithwaite and Philbin to cover 11 and 12.

I think there is enough cover in the second row with Westwood still in the frame but I wouldn't fancy any of the second rowers moving your the 8,10 & 13 positions for any length of time.
I would be a bit happier with what we have if we were dropping to 8 interchanges next season but I think it is the year after. Also does anybody have an update on Laithwaite s recovery. If he is in a similar boat to Grix then that does leave us light.

You would think offloading Monaghan, Grix, England & possibly Wheeler, should allow us space to bring in a decent prop and a good centre, which would be squad complete for me.

I think England is an ok prop, middle 8's really.

I don't think the idea is to drop England and not recruit. I think we are looking to let England go to allow us to bring a better prop in.

I disagree, his lower body development is not good enough for SL.

Plus, at 29 he isn't going to make any real improvement. I suspect that both England and Wheeler will be on the move. If Wheeler does have an option for a second year the Club will have that option too.

Underwhelmed by both of them. It's not like they haven't both had opportunities to show they're worthy of a new contract.

Wheeler hasn't been fit long enough - same as when at saints.
But unless another prop is available I'd keep England. He's really on last knockings though.
A modern day Craig Teitzel ?? (Harsh on England probably).

I know he had an injury & is it that that kept him out till the season finished or was he dropped while TS explored his other forward options ?

England has signed for wakey, subject to medical next week, TS wanted him to stay now he has sorted out his elbow injury, but I think he wants a starting slot, will be interesting to see if he shows the ST George form being injury free and starting, I think the move is good for everyone,,

No great loss, I'm sure he'll be ok for Wakefield.

I'll take your word for it. I don't know him that well.

Rather sheepishly I'm happy to give Wheeler another season.

While he disappointed us this season, he does posses the attribute to be the best low cost signing in SL.

Nothing would give me greater satisfaction to see him rinse Stains in our next meeting for our faith in him.

I Just cant forgive wheeler for dropping the ball on the Last play against Hull KR in the semi.. If I had a gun I would have shot him

Wheeler seems to have had a long career based on "potential" not sure many others would be given that many chances.
