So were just a few days away from the first game of the season and arguably one of our biggest home games of the season.

Normally we would expect this to sell out days in advance, but the club seem to be very quiet on this and putting a lot of articles on the website regarding tickets. This is making me believe we haven't shifted many tickets for the game. I know that Thursday will affect the attendance but still with a good Saints following and the size of our town, I would still expect us to be able to shift 15,000 tickets.

I expect anything between 12-13k which is disappointing really.

What does everyone else think the attendance will be on Thursday. Disappointing or a lot of walkups to get close to a sell out?

11-12k will be a good attendance for a evening game on a Thursday night when kids and their parents who make up a bulk of it cannot attend.

13,400 for the same fixture last season. Although that was on a Friday. I'll be happy if we can match that but tickets still for sale online for all areas.

Thursday nights certainly will affect attendance, I normally take the whole family which is 5 of us but as its a school night I will be on my tod!

The fact that it's in the coldest part of the season will see more than normal choose to watch it on Sky

Maybe I would make a terrible father, but I don't see the harm in letting your kid have one late night. I have many happy memories of midweek trips to Anfield as a young whippersnapper, never did me any harm!

I agree. Utterly bizarre responses from people saying they can't go because their kids have school the next day. Having one late night and only the 9 or 10 hours sleep is hardly going to have them falling asleep in class.

First game crowds are normally bigger at Saints. It just seems like there isn't much good feeling about in Warrington and in Super League in general. A hangover from the World Cup perhaps? Or something to do with Warrington failing in the Final again and not replacing the likes of Briers with exciting signings?

I wont take mine as the last time two of them fell asleep at the front of the South Stand, its not worth paying for a ticket for two of my kids to fall asleep!

All very well and good the club advertising on the website but the club should have been advertising this game all over town for the past month. The only people who go in the website are those who are already interested in Wire.

So much for trying to attract new faces who may want to go to a massive first game of the season after watching RLWC2013. If you was a non RL fan in Warrington you'd have no ideas the season starts in two days... Pathetic.

our marketing is virtually non existant, i cant remember the last time i saw us advertised around town or an area away from the stadium or club website.

I was in town on Sunday then went past the stadium and all morning didn't see a single advertisement, it just isn't good enough and I can't understand why a promotion mogul accepts it!

Football is played every day of the week with big crowds and fans travelling from a much wider area. A game played within the same postal and dialing code should not be an issue whether it is played Thursday or 5am Christmas Day!

Simple.......his team are the experts and they have calculated that it will cost more in advertising than will be created in additional profits. That is why a promotion mogul, or indeed any businessman will accept it.

Can't get up for a mid week game so it'll be sky and the pub for me. 3 hours each way.

Might just scrape 10,000, which won't be too bad for what is, basically, a pre-season friendly.

Fair enough, but that goes for any week night, not just this Thursday game.

Nothing bizarre about it Sad-Act. I have a 7 year old daughter who won't be attending because she has school Friday morning. We live in East Manchester so won't get home until after 10.30pm, traffic depending.

My lad has a paper round and struggles to stay up later than between 8:30 and 9. We went to the United-Sunderland game a couple of weeks ago and he was really struggling. I felt really sorry for him having to be up at 6:30 the next day and then to school afterwards.

Luckily, he finishes school on Thursday, so he can go back to bed after his paper round.

Monday and Thursday game are ridiculous and are done without one thought of the fans who actually go to the games. Sky have done exactly the same with football over the years.

RL is much more of a family game than football, so the ratio of children to adults is much higher at RL games. I certainly wouldn't take my two six year olds to a game mid-week which meant they wouldn't get to bed fefore 10:30 at the earliest (it'd take them a few days to get over it).

The current weather must have an impact too for anyone who is thinking of paying at the turnstile. My guess would be around 10,000.

If the wind/gales kick in as predicted there might not be a stadium to stand/sit in. Its going to be mucky weather 8700
