Hoping for a Saints win tonight. Never thought I'd say that.

I definitely want Saints to win tonight, but our games are all massive now especially them away in a couple of weeks. If we drop any more points and lose at Langtree I definitely expect us to finish outside the top two which would be a huge disadvantage in the play offs.

That kinda puts paid to the notion that league games are just glorified friendlies that some people are trying to suggest in the other thread too doesn't it?!

Totally agree. Saints have quietly gone about thei business and done really well.

If we finish third (or even fourth) it will really drag the Salford debacle back into focus too.

I don't mind not finishing first because as much as I enjoyed seeing us clinch it at the KC last year, it ultimately got us nowhere, and finishing second isn't really any different in terms of play off advantage. Any lower could cost us though. Saints and Leeds are specialists at getting to the Grand Final, and Catalans is not an away trip any team would fancy in the play offs. We need to keep our chances as high as possible by ensuring if and when we do have to play those sides it's at home.

Catalan got thoroughly robbed tonight. Regardless of any benefits we will get, it has cheapened the game just a little bit.

I'm sure sad end will come on saying how saints are all that and a bag of sweets but deep down every saints fan should know they were handed a win by ian smith.
