I know that there were some rumours linking us to joe, but geroge riley (bbc) has just confirmed that hull fc have just signed him! Massive blow for cas? Shame for us to miss him?

I don't think he has developed into the player many thought he might. I wasn't very impressed with him much the last 2 seasons.

Maybe he needed a change to club to freshen his game up a bit... time will tell... I'm not bothered in the slightest that we haven't signed him though.

A real shame as I rate him highly. However, you can't have every player you want. I do hope he fulfils his potential as O'Loughlin needs some pressure on that 13 shirt for England.

Potential is the word here. A couple of years ago I thought he was going to be sensational. He hasn't quite lived up to the potential yet but he's still young. A very good signing for Hull and interesting that they've got that kind of cash to throw around.

I'm quite happy with Harrison at 13.....for now.

not true, considering hull are of thought to have broken their transfer record which stands at 250k for alan hunte from saints a few years back now! and it has been announced, today, hence the thread

No they haven't, it says one of the biggest. Then goes on to say the biggest was 250k. I can't imagine they've paid many transfer fees over £100k before so I'd imagine the rumours of around £150k are about right, Cas have still got an incredibly good deal though.

I know a guy who sits on the Cas board, Warrington & Hull were in for him and Hull got him for £175k fact

It's not that much of a surprise really. Hull lack a ball playing LF and their average crowds dictate that they should be able to outspend most clubs.

If we had gone in for Westerman we probably wouldn't have been offering new deals to Westwood and Harrison.

Didn't they get roped into a deal with the stadium company that they only kept the gate receipts from the first however many people who come in, and anything after that went to the stadium owners...?

true, that is what that specific article says, however im not making that figure up, it may not have been on the bbc where i read it and now i cant for the life of me think where it was, but this morning first thing i read they are thought to have broken that record.

He plays mainly as an extra prop not a ball playing loose.

The £250k club record fee was for 3 players Alan Hunte, Steve Prescott and Simon Booth. I guess Prescott and Hunt were worth £150k each and booth -£50k.

Our deal was we pay nothing for the ground or stewarding for up to 7500 fans and the we split half and half for any after that (meaning cheap give away's cost the club money) but we shoul never be in a position to go t#ts up.This has since been re-negotiated and we now have a better package apparently.Its interesting that we have turn a decent profit for the last 5 years and have cleared massive debts in the process. We have decent cash to spend nut then there is the salary cap. Apparently the money we offered for Westerman was offered to you for Myler and he turn us down in negotiation.
