| Chris Riley take a bow son. Two try assists (one for Atkins one for Westwood) and also prevented eight points being conceded, two by chasing down Richards by pushing him wide to make the kick angle difficult then six by forcing Farrell to knock on when surely he would have scored.
Okay for a 'not good enough' winger.

| I agree completely. There is an argument for the chase of Richards being the game breaker - Richards goes under the posts, Wigan go 2 points clear having overturned a 10 point deficit and have the momentum and control of the game; as it was the chase forced him wide making the kick difficult and at all square we still had the upper edge and belief that one score would win it...

| It was a fantastic chaseback. Being the pessimist that I am lol, the only downside I would say is when he tackled Pat he grabbed him with his arm over the ball. If he'd have grabbed him with his arm under the ball, he may have had enough to hold him up over the line.
Still, it's gone now and we won the game so it didn't matter at the end of the day, it's just me being pi$$y!

| Riley did exactly the right thing. He wasn't trying to hold him up as he had no chance, he was trying to strip the ball. Huge effort.

| Last night's performance has got me on the edge of believing a place has to be found for Riley in our first choice 13. His improvement in consistency of performance over the last 12 months has been a joy to be seen.

| Great performance from the lad. The chase on Richards was spot on and 2-3 yards earlier he'd have kept him out. Totally agree that his chase kept Pat out wide and saved 2 points from the kick.
Well done Chris......

| from my view at the top of the north stand i had a beautiful view, Riley came from the opposite corner and to see his actual speed was fantastic, soon as pat picked it up and it was Lee Briers chasing i thought try then from nowhere i was thinking or should i say actually saying aloud at the time "he's gonna catch him, he's gonna bloody catch him" if he'd saved the actual try though that would have been try save of the season.

| shown last night that he's good enough for the big occasion and probably won us the match (richards and farrell).
we don't need to find a place in the 13 for him he has got his wing position locked away 22 tries (wire's top try scorer) speaks fot itself.

| And his strike rate is 1 in 2. I'm baffled there is any doubt about his value to our squad/team.

| His pass for Westwood's try was great, perfectly timed and a perfect run from Westwood too. The try saver on Farrell and pushing Richards out definitely changed the game completely. His partnership with Atkins is working well, twice that little kick was executed and had Riley not been blocked off in the first one then he would've probably scored.

| If anyone did still have any doubts about him, even after the massive improvements we've seen in over the past couple of years, I don't think they will now.
He's turned into an outstanding player for us, and he's earned his starting role in the team, and I can see him keeping it for many years to come.

| Great effort by him to force richards into the corner if he was 10 metres out instead of about 6 or 7 he could have taken his legs as he would not have reached over. Good football skills aswell with that perfectly times slide tackle

| Riley's major problem is that he doesn't have an Australian accent and wasn't signed from a top4 UK or Oz club.
He is leading try scorer in Super League
He is a Warrington lad who is one of us doing it for us
His decision making in defence is excellent
He has battled to make that starting place his own despite constant fan criticism
He can play FB or wing
He will not let this club down by his on field performances
He can finish and create tries for himself
Can we please start giving the lad the credit he deserves, not just for last night but for his consistently good performances
By the way, think back to the play off win at Leeds - who was it that made the 30 yard break to give field position to set up the Briers drop goal ?? That was September 2006 - 4 years ago and he is still trying to convince 95% of our fans
Riley for young player of the year

He has really proved himself this year.
(At the risk of opening another can of worms )
With Hicks signing for another 12 months and Riley putting these sorts of performances in, where does that leave Kevin Penny?

| Whats going to happen when Bridge is back....does he come into the team with King shifting out to the wing so Riley can be dropped, or is it time to leave Bridge on the bench.

| Any of the centres could play loose forward (in different styles). Notwithstanding my defence of Grix in the thread last week, he might be the most vulnerable in the squad at the moment. I wonder how close Vinnie was to selection last night. He's playing the best he ever has for us and he can't get in the team.
