| Ah well, as one of the optimists in the ranks, I thought it was time to have my say on how I'm feeling.
Overall, I'm still not too bad.
I am bitterly disappointed with yesterday, and we need to turn things round soon, but it is some of the performances of some of the other teams in the game that are giving me hope.
Look at Hull. Top after the first few rounds, and now after a losing streak are 8th.
Salford - looked as though they may only win the one game all season (Crusaders at home), and now they have beaten Hull and Leeds away in two weeks.
Bradford - have won the same number of games as us, and they are out of the cup.
Wigan - 2 points ahead of us having played 1 game extra.
Toulouse - after getting 70 stuck on them by Widnes a few weeks back, they then stick 60 on Batley.
There are some strange results, and some strange form going on at the moment. We have just changed our coach, and I'm partly glad that we didn't have a reaction like we did when Lowes took over. That run of wins probably covered up some of the bigger issues. At least Smith can see what he has to work with.
As for this season, as I have highlighted with the teams above, things can soon change. Salford were getting ripped by everybody a few weeks back, and they have worked hard and turned it round, there is no reason why we can't do it.
One of the reasons I generally stay supportive and don't boo and jeer the team, is because when we do go on a winning run I would feel hypocritical, as though I don't have the right to enjoy the good times if I haven't shared the bad times.
For the 2nd game running I am disappointed with the fans for booing. As I said after Friday, these fans have always claimed that if the team puts effort in they will not boo. For the second game on the bounce, I don't feel it is effort that is letting them down, yet they still get boo'd.
No doubt I will get stick, and told I am burying my head in the sand, but hey, I've had plenty of stick from fans over the years for supporting the Wire, and if our own fans will give me stick for standing by them, well that says more about them than me.
Anyway, let's stick with them, Smith will turn it round, hopefully sooner rather than later.

We finished 4th that year after a great run.

| Saints were 5 and 5 last season and everyone thought they were on the turn but look what they did. Not saying we can do that but we all think we know where to improve and things will get better

Let’s take hope from Toluse beating Batley! Ha-ha irrelevance of the highest order!

| Agree completely, we have seen worse times than this in recent years and you have to be able to take the lows to enjoy the highs when they come along.

Because to be honest I don’t really care what other teams do! Especially ones which aren’t in the same division! The only thing relevant to how Warrington perform is Warrington itself.

If you aren't interested in other teams, fine, don't get involved in the discussion.
One of my points were that there are plenty of teams out there who have struggled and have turned it round, or will turn it round. I am confident that we have the ability to do the same.
Anyway, this was a positive thread, there are plenty of negative ones for you to go on.

How am I being negative you fool? Just because you labelled your thread optimistic doesn’t mean anyone who disagrees with you is pessimistic! I just firmly believe that only Warrington can turn around there form and need to believe in themselves rather that looking at irrelevant results/performances of other clubs! We spend far to long looking and comparing ourselves to other clubs when we should concentrate on our own strengths and be looking to use them to turn around our season.

If you lack confidence and can't see a way out, it is good to look around at others and learn from them.
At the moment, things look bad for us, however we can learn things from the likes of Salford and Toulouse, who have worked hard to turn things round.
We can also use history to see examples of where we have turned it round.
By refusing to acknowledge what else is going on out there makes you blinkered and seeing that it is possible (as is being proven at other clubs) can help to build up confidence.

| I honestly thought you would see a response from the team after the poor showing on Friday. In any level of sport, you would normally expect to see some heart and pride on display and a desire to make up for the disappointment of a previous defeat.
The fact Warrington didn't speaks volumes.

| Yesterday's performance wasn't the worst i've seen by Warrington by a long way. The pack had a good game just our half backs didn't create the opening for the backs the forwards work deserved.

| Actually this year, of all the SL seasons, I think most clubs are showing some inconsistent form. Odd results springing up everywhere.
To add to the optimistic view there is of course no relegation. So if ever there were a time to have a poor run, it is now. Equally, if Smith needs to do some radical changes, and he seems to have started that ball rolling, then now is the time to do it. There are bound to be hiccups along the way, I just hope our fans have the stomach for a fight. Quite frankly booing at half time, when we were only 6 points down to a team on better form is ridiculous. But no worries they will return to optimistic cheering once our form has returned.

| I think my main positive is Matt King. The reason for this being that he gives me hope that things can change. In front of my eyes, I've seen what a bit of confidence can do for an individual, and this leads me to believe that for the likes of Monaghan, L.Anderson etc, there is still hope.
Last year, Matt King literally couldn't even catch the ball. He was clueless at one point during the season. Right now, he looks to be be enjoying it out there, bumping defenders off and looking very much like the centre we thought we'd all signed. If his form continues until Rd27, he'll go a long, long way towards redeeming himself for last year, and will be a favourite amongst the fans for sure.
It's this upturn in fortune that keeps me going, players should look at him & think 'Look how quickly things have turned around for him, I'm gonna make that happen for me.'
