I've seen more than enough to know it's a great signing.

| I just think people keep forgetting this guy is only 19, he was not purchased just to kick start this season, this is a long long term signing and I think he will improve season after season.

| Give him time. Remember his peers such as Eastmond and Tomkins have been brought up in ther clubs culture. Richie is new to ours

| Myler is a great prospect and scores a bucket-load of tries by working hard, taking on the line from close range and backing-up well.
He looks best when surrounded by good players (sounds obvious, I know). However, when under pressure (eg. when he's is viewed as the 'senior' halfback) he tends to make poor choices, panic and go missing.
He also doesn't have a particularly good kicking game, in that he is too inconsistent/unreliable, finds the full back too often with long kicks and doesn't have a great range of kicking options.
I realised that I'll sound like a bitter Salford fan saying this but I said the same when he was with us (and if anyone can be bothered to check, my posting history will confirm that)
I'd love to see hm prove me wrong and go on to be the next Andy Gregory (or better) but at present I can only see him becoming the next Sean Long at best.

| Why do we have to go to extremes?
He has had a very good start to his Wire career, and for m is the best scrum half we have had for a good while.
He is a tough little sod, and the quality of his passing in general has surprised me. He also offers something that we haven't had for a good while, pace and support play around the middle.
If he continues he will be a brilliant signing.

That reminds me, never mentioned any of his positives!
He's deceptively fast, tackles well above his weight, takes big hits well and is rarely injured.

| If he was only 19 and had only played 8 games for us I would probably say it is ridiculous to be making any sort of definitive judgment of his performance V price tag but that he'd made an excellent start.

| Not the finished article. So many players look to be top class propects and never develop. I think and hope that Richie will be one of those that really develop and at 23/4 will be top drawer. Hope that the Joey Johns mentoring continues.

Sean Long is one of the most decorated players in the history of the British game. He is also without doubt the best scrum half of the Super League era and is still easily the best in SL.
I don't think it would be a failure for Myler to achieve that kind of status to be honest.

| Myler is a great support player. He is always on the shoulder of forwards and also in on the breaks made out wide. One thing i am very happy with is his defence. I thought he maybe weak here but he is one of the best defending 6or7's i have seen for a while.

| From what I've seen of him, he is in the mould of Sean Long or Shaun Edwards. His support play & pace are excellent & his passing is also top drawer. However for individual brilliance he's a different type of player to Tomkins or Eastmond. Eastmond especially is a RL freak in the style of Jason Robinson - he has everything already & the ability to become the world's best as he improves... Tomkins I see as a genuine stand-off in the style of Dave Topliss, on his day everything he does is just classy & he has the knack of having so much time on the ball.
In years to come I can see all three in the international setup - Myler & Tomkins as the halves with Eastmond at full back with time & space to cause chaos. They are three different types of player & all 3 will be very very good for years to come. What I would say about Myler at this time though is he needs a quality stand off playing alongside him to grip the game & take the pressure away from him...

You lot will have him shaking like Mathers by the end of the year. Every poor game, every mistake will be met with a "Myler - worth £200k?" thread.

| Support play similar to Danny McGuire, hes young, fast, confident and one full season getting to know the players around him is all he needs. Top little player.

Yey! Glad someone picked up on my cheap-shot at Longy's expense!
Thought it might be appreciated on a Wire forum?!

| For me it all depends on what approach Tony Smith wants to take after Lee Brier`s retires or leaves which won`t be too far away, at Leeds Tony Smith favoured pace in the half backs over organisation as i see Rob Burrow as more of a direct runner than an out and out organiser like a Sean Long, Andy Gregory or a Matt Orford, Danny McGuire is mainly all about pace.
When Lee Briers does eventually leave i would personally like to see us sign a stand off with good organisation and creativity, as an example Danny McGuire wouldn`t really compliment Richie Myler as you wouldn`t have much organisation or control in the half backs. Myler may improve that side of his game in time but currently he will need Lee Briers along side him to control games which will free up Richie Myler to do what he does best which is to support virtually anything that moves.
A modern day John Woods would compliment Richie Myler well, Myler has the pace and awareness of whats going on around him, we just need to someone to unlock defences on a more regular basis and to dictate games from the middle.
