20m
4 missed tackles
1 error (other than his inclusion)
That is unjustifiable and absolutely pitiful. How this man has not made it into the reserves is beyond me. No wonder Cooper and King refused to play in the reserves when that buffoon is never dropped.

| Was he on the pitch for 80 mins?
How many completed tackles did he do? 20m is pitiful, nay shameful.
I used to like him at Cas, he was a bit of a try merchant too, always popping up. He now seems to cruise around in his VW van, looking for places to camp and "living his best life" rather than put a stint in for the Wire.
Completely underwhelmed by him and he should be ashamed of his effort under a guy who clearly values him.

I cannot give an argument as to why he's on the pitch at all.

| Crazy stats for Holmes. He was one of my favourite players at Cas. Always gave 100% and scored a fair few in the second row. I was gutted he left but on current form I'm happy we have Kenny Edwards.

| He was on the pitch for 80m and his attitude completely undermines the supposed culture Powell is claiming he wants to implement.
If he plays ahead of Nicholson (or anyone) next week then Powell really has lost the plot.

| Both him, and his teammate Matautia are pinching a living in a Wire jersey. He's a plodder (as if we don't employ enough) and as for Matautia, words fail me. Last night, he was used as a battering ram prop. I thought he was supposed to be a centre who could play stand off. And as for that waste of atoms Minikin......we've got rid of Lineham and Charnley . More evidence of crap recruitment.
Why did we sign any of them?
As Toyah once "sang"....It'sh a Myshtery

| If Powell wants to show the team that no one is safe from being dropped he needs to drop Holmes and Mata'utia for next week. But he won’t and players will think why should I bother.
Struggle to see how Minikin justifies selection either.

I was quite pleased with this signing as although I obviously didn't see a lot of Cas games apart from the games against us and highlights, he seemed just the kind of guy most squads would like to have, industrious with an eye for a try, a PRO. I could also see why Powell would bring one of his leading lights with him to help get his point across and set the standard "challenge accepted" and all that..
Well never mind Kenny Edwards on current form I'd take Kenny Everett or Jimmy Edwards take your pick

| In the modern game, there should be no hiding place when every facet of your performance is measured, recorded and open to scrutiny.
How Powell can sit down and look at the players stats (I'm giving him something of the benefit of the doubt that [isomeone[/i scrutinises them), see those figures for Holmes and think "I'm good with that"?
I soured on Holmes pretty quickly. He has the air of someone who didn't want to leave Cas but came for a bigger salary and to help out Mr Powell, safe in the knowledge he'd get preferential treatment.
And here we are, not waving but drowning.

| He was crowing (childishly) earlier in the season about bringing Matautia in over Mamo after the former had a half decent game. How about now Daryl? I really want to hear his reasonings for Holmes’ consistent selection and Minikin being in ahead of Wrench. It’s nothing other than blind favouritism.

| I'd actually welcome Jack Hughes back if it meant Holmes was left out, that is how bad he has been. He says his Warrington career so far has been 'up and down'. Really ogi? An absolute charlatan.

Yeah he was in tears that final game he played down Wheldon Road.
He was the one who wanted it though and moved away.

How did they compare to Currie's?

| Currie made the same amount of tackles (2icon_cool.gif and missed 1. He made 11 carries for 61m. Not great but considerably better than Holmes’. Currie gave away no penalties, Holmes 1.

Kenny Everett. Now I'm thinking about lowered newspapers again and another certain dance troupe.

| The Holmes + Mata debate is just one example of many why supporters have lost faith in Powell but the question is how and why a player like Holmes has become so bad compared to his Cas days?He seems like a man who does not want to be here and regrets his move but I’ll bet he’s still picking up a tidy wage.

We have many players that were better at their previous clubs than with us. Widdop and Williams for starters.

Maybe a good question for the next (handpicked) fans forum?

| The ex Cas players failing to perform has been at the heart of the reason Powell has struggled this year. He really needed those guys to set the tone. The fact they are not playing up to their Cas level undermines Powell in the eyes of everybody.
Sadly I think they are just past their best.
Reminds me of when Dalglish went to Newcastle United and brought in Barnes and Rush.
