| Given a choice between Matautia and Mamo, I'd take Mamo every time.

| And me.
Mamo wants first team footy and I'm sure he thinks he won't get that at Wire - especiaĺly if Ma'atautia comes in.
He'll be a loss.

| To be brutal about it, neither Mamo nor Matautia would be in a first choice 17 likely to challenge for the Grand Final. Both are OK for 18-25. Mamo would not be in our current back line if all were fit and playing to their very best.

| Disappointing, but it makes sense. He’ll likely get a start there, especially if Shenton and Matautia are leaving. Here, he’s always been a bit-part, and bar the odd brain explosion has contributed well.
Seems to be a significant churn at the end of the season. Might get another “A whole new breed” poster in the guardian.

| I don’t what you guys have been watching but Matautia is a better centre than Mamo. Although Mamo has more strings to his bow. Matautia is tougher and more reliable in defence than King although not as quick and good under a high ball.
At this moment in time, I’d rather have Matautia in over Mamo and King, Mamo and King are worth a try more than Matautia but they are also worth 3 try’s to the opposition. Our right side is a revolving door atm. We only have Hughes capable of shoring it up.
I like King and I like Mamo, I also like my sleep and losing them wouldn’t lose me any. I’m not clouded by sentiment, the team comes first for me.
Btw, that doesn’t make me a Matautia fan, we can do much better, however, he’s the right shape to plug the hole on our right, Mamo and King have been proven they are not. Mamo being slightly better than King on our right.
King is a left centre and that’s it. The pack was back at powder puff levels during the first 40 vs Huddersfield. That must never be allowed to happen again.

| Did anybody see the highlights of the Cas v Hull KR game.
Matautia did not cover himself in glory when Abdul went straight through him to score the winner.
The previous try down Cas' right edge was not great defending either. if we had lost to Hull KR like that there would be posters on here up in arms about Powell brining his mates in.
Worth a watch if you have not seen it. Might just be a bad game but I am sure that game will not be on his you tube highlights.

You don’t think swapping King to the “wrong side” against both KR and Hudds had something to do with it? As for Matau’tia being better than King...madness.

I've not seen that much of this fella but Forums can often be a great source of what the mood is like at a club, including who's pulling up trees and who isn't. If you drift over to the Cas Forum they are not too concerned about losing Mata' utia and the general vibe is head is elsewhere and not a great loss.
Well presumably he's Powell's pick...........

| I hope this club know what they are doing letting all these players go presumably for incoming Cas players as I for one don’t want to see most of Powell’s team here.

| Mata'utia is good centre and he's consistant and can cover fullback and the halves. Yeah he doesn't set the world alight but he's still a very good player. I've got no issues at all with him coming to us, if we pull our fingers out our butts and keep hold of King i wouldn't complain with King and Mata'utia as our starting centres at all.

He's stated himself on twitter he had a bad game.
RE matau'tia himself Cas signed him mid-season from leigh 2018 when degsy started clearing the decks and books in league one, they signed him as A he was available and was chucked in as one of the many bodge jobs to fill the fullback roll that year after hardaker's ban, ben roberts being injured, and greg eden being crap (oh, and Gary Io's mysterious disappearance that we're not allowed to talk about). I believe his form had been average for leigh in the championship and he had copped a big ban as well in the challenge cup
At some point he's moved forward and covered at stand off, and centre, and settled at centre.
As I've mentioned before, the usual suspects on here would kick off about him if we did that signing.(also he was 27 i think at the time of signing for cas).
why?
cos they kicked off when we signed bryson goodwin, from leigh, in the championship (admittedly before their season started) who was a past it nrl player who had signed for a promotion team, people weren't happy about it, even though he was pretty good for his two years.
Also, the usual suspects kicked off about us signing bodene thompson, from leigh, in the same circumstances as m'tautia, he did ok as a fill in as currie was injured, and livett was out of favour

| Mamo has done better than I expected, but if he isn't going to be first choice I think his space should go to a younger player from our own ranks.
He provides good cover for wing and centre, but I don't think he's good enough to be first choice centre / winger for a side battling for trophies. Thewlis/Ashton should get a wing spot ahead of him and hopefully Roebuck can start covering centre next year...? All of these players I'd expect to be on significantly less than Mamo so would help with cap space also.

Me too.
Regarding Mamo, he's done alright at centre but I think he is a winger really. He has filled in well because he has a great attitude and clearly always wants to do his best for the team. He's a great squad player to have, he's not quite good enough to be first choice fullback, winger or centre in our current playing roster but he would be in my squad every week and with injuries/ bans he has meant we haven't noticed the missing player so badly. He would play more often than not as first choice cover but if he wants a starting shirt then its possibly best he finds that elsewhere unfortunately.
I'd live him to stay, just for his attitude and commitment to the team. If he goes elsewhere then they will have signed a great team player with a spot on attitude. Personally I think its more important we keep Toby King.
