He was complaining that he couldn't get him under the cap, presumably because Harrison would have wanted a contract that meant he wasn't losing out financially by missing his testimonial.

Yes, we have known about this saga for some time. But according to League Express, Leigh wish to take him and we are happy to release him. The sticking point according to Leigh is that they will give him a lower salary than he is currently earning at Wire but the RFL rules state that the Leigh salary cap must use his existing salary at Wire, which would push Leigh over the limit. Leigh said that they are in discussions with the RFL since the rules do not make sense.

Personally, if this is correct I can not understand the logic in the rules either, however we are probably missing some nuance as it does seems to be nonsensical.

Could it be that the cap operates on a financial year basis rather than a seasonal basis?

If it is a loan then the full wages count on Leigh's Cap even if they are only paying part of them, this could be the sticking point.

He went well for us in the couple of games he played towards the end of last season and I would be more than happy to have him back but I dont think he liked the commute and would probably prefer to play for a team closer to home.

The sticking point in a move to Leigh, is Ben's valuation - for Salary Cap purposes - of > £100,000. Whilst Leigh's (apparently) acceptable offer is believed to be much less than that, the ridiculous cap valuation is prohibiting a move to Leigh, or anywhere else, I should imagine. I'm not sure where that valuation comes from, because I can't see Warrington paying him that - good player that he is.

Hill, Sims, Coops, Crosby, King, Westwood, Savelio and some Moran towards the middle of the season should be quite enough I would imagine. If we really get stuck TS will probably try Matty Russell or Jack Johnson as well.

Hmm, I think with Currie out, Westwood and Savelio will spend much of the season in the back row, or bench back row.

I guess though if Harrison does have a 'salary cap value' of £100k, that money would be better spent on a three quarter..

Fingers crossed we may keep him now Sandow has left and freed a big chunk of cash up. Harrison is a great player with a big engine and now he has gotten over his injuries i don't get why TS wants rid of him? Unless it is literally all down to money?

I too would love to see Ben back in the P&B. However at this stage we do not need another big marauding forward. We need a quality centre, it is what we are screaming for.
