| Grade B no EGP yet Singleton Grade B has EGP so will end up getting less than Ash. What did they expect him to do stand there and take it?

| Joke, he took a cheap shot, remonstrated, took a punch and then struck back. Sin bin was definitely sufficient for Ashton.

| Really hope they appeal but doubt it. Bailey will have to start and Cox back on the bench. Ash had one of his best games last fri shame could do with him against saints and hull.

| Strange, how the Muppets on Sky are banging the drum about pathetic rule changes like a defender putting his foot over the dead ball line whilst taking a catch, so they can restart the game, rather than a prop who's taken a cheap shot, so he's retalliated, and thdy want him banned. The game's going to hell in a handcart, and those two are pulling the cart.

They belittle the game big time. A change in personnel is long overdue, we should leave courting controversy to the round ball game and just back the referee like they do in yawnion (it's the best part of their game). The ref against Leeds was great, no arrogance just confidence in his decisions, I think a couple of their tries were dubious but in the grand scheme of things it was irrelevant so not too bothered he just made a decision and ran with it. It's about time league stamped out aggressively talking back to the ref, they could start by a red for wilkin on Friday as he's possibly the worst and will almost certainly get too involved with the referee at some point.

| The game's going to pot if they think Sims should either stand there and take punches or run away to avoid them. How can they possibly give Singleton and Sims the same punishment as well when Singleton swinging arm'd Sims in the back of the neck which started the confrontation and then Singleton threw the first punch?

Totally agree. I suppose we ought to wait to see their final judgement but I fear the worst at the moment.

| The RFL are undermining their own referees and then complain that they don't get the respect they should. This incident was dealt with on the pitch. Both players were removed for 10 minutes. Why does the RFL think that they need to be punished a second time? Still not as bad as Scott Moore being pulled in weeks later and banned for 4 weeks for something that hadn't even been cited weeks earlier. The RFL are doing a superb job of ruining what was a great sport but will soon be touch and pass.

| The rot set in when the refs starting calling the players by their first name. What's the saying ? Familiarity breeds contempt ? In the bad old days the only player allowed to speak to the ref was the team captain and the rest addressed the ref by sir. Perhaps the referee should address the players just by their shirt numbers.

| whilst i don't want to see bash banned, and i agree he's retaliated to a house swinging arm and then a punch, there's retaliation and retaliation, he didn't pop one or two and then retreat , he's gone swinging goodstyle. However as said above, i think sin bin should be sufficient for it, it was a blow up, nothing more. Singleton should be given a charge for instigating it though, and possibly a neck.

| I too hope the club argue the case for Sims.
Singleton threw three, possibly four, before Sims threw his first.
Not forgetting that Sims didn't actually retaliate to the late, swinging arm in the first instance.
There must be a strong argument that it was self-defence rather then retaliation.

| Sims did retaliate by walking straight over to Singleton, this is when they started trading punches. I think a 1 game ban is correct, if the rule says anyone found punching to the head has a one game ban then so be it. He could have walked away after the initial shot by Singleton.

| Whilst he could have walked away it certainly would not do his credability any good for a prop forward.
I`m a Leeds fan and felt Singleton at least showed some bottle to have a go.
Yes I know it is against the rules but nobody died or broke a players jaw.
Two props having a go so what.
Pity they both didn`t get sent off as that might of been the end of it.
On the subject of the ref.
I thought he maybe got one Leeds "try" wrong but also missed the ball hitting Ferres chest instead giving a knock which I think you scored from that.
To be honest you scored that many I might have got that wrong.
Good luck for the rest of the season you might just do it this year and I did tip you to finish top.

With the current rules, this is a fair punishment. I am still not sure on how we should treat the instigator versus the retaliator though.
It would have been a travesty if Singleton could have used his EGP and got a lesser ban than Sims!

| Never really understood the EGP business if your guilty your guilty and that's it. On another note I see Bateman got away with his antics in the Cas game.

Save some time and get away with taking a smaller ban, than arguing the toss andstill being found guilty, and being banned longer

| I think that if both had been red carded they would not have been reviewed as the ban would have been served in that game
The ref commentator eluded tothe same fact on sky, that it was nothing and as both players had punched and made contact with the head so would be charged after the game and both get a one game ban. That would not have been the case had they been red carded.
Id rather have lost him during the Leeds game and have him for the next game personally.
Singletons egp has probably saved him from a 2 game ban.

Singleton gets two games (before using up his Early Guilty Plea) and Sims the one. As the rules stand at the minute, and considering that Singleton initiated the whole thing with his cheap shot from behind and then throwing the first punch, a fair enough result.
