| I started a similar thread about Waterhouse a few years back because I felt many of our fans didn't appreciate the work-rate and grind he brought to the team.
Back to Sims;
What did we expect he would do?
That's the question I would like the greater minds on here to answer.
For me he plays with passion and gives 100% in every second of every game when he is on the pitch. He tries to bond with the fans; after our first try at Wigan he was the first one back in position, and was applauding the fans for their support. If I recall correctly he did this at the start of the match too. He isn't Morley, he isn't Carvel, and he isn't Boyd. He's a bloody good forward though, and I'm getting sick of all the rubbish that knockers like RD are posting on here.
I'm not suggesting we elevate him to a the realms of a wire legend, but for mine, the boy done good so far.
Get behind him, and he may do better. Takes a lot for a bloke to up route his family and move from Aus to rainy Warrington. He came over to play for us, and given what he does, he's not well paid. However hard he tries, however much he gives, the idiots on the terraces will question his motives.

| The same people knocking him were saying "all we want it a bit of effort, enthusiasm and to look like he wants to be here" of Asotasi last year, he certainly has that. He carries plenty and hits hard, one or two errors but nothing over the top. Good start for me.

| Happy with him so far - but would like a little more, and I think we will get it later on in the year. His enthusiasm is great, he controls his aggression well.
He's done pretty much what I expected - become our second best prop.

You haven't read my posts then.
I don't say anywhere he is isn't a good forward. I appreciate him and his family up routing but so did Cuthbertson's! I appreciate him going over to the fans like Rowland Phillips.
I see his strengths and those areas he is not so strong in.
I even see Asotasi's strengths.
I will repeat some of myself for 1905.
Now the honeymoon period is over Sims has the good looks but looks too lightweight to be a prop, he is more mobile and in my opinion it is no demotion to start with Big Roy to soften them up and then bring Sims on who may be more effective....
1905, two weeks ago this is what happened and Sims even scores his 1st try!
V Widnes he was doing a lot of arm waving and 3rd man in the tackles. I watched him like a hawk but in all fairness the whole team was utter shaat, even the staunchest fan would fine it hard to clap of the team for that performance.
1905, would you prefer me to say Sims was so awesome at Widnes? When he bloody wasn't?
As you started off a thread about Waterhouse you may or may not be happy about me saying Sims has offered no more than Waterhouse despite the big preseason bigging up of his signing.
Bottom line imo is the all the props arnt as good as Morley and Carvell and pointed out by other as being too soft in comparison. I agree.
Hill being the all round best.
Asotasi being the total best in micro moments the and the rest obviously not.
Sims wants to be the best but doesn't posses the body mass to be so, swapping the pasta and rice for fish and chips and he just might be.
If that is knocking 1905 I will wear the crown.

| Spot on assessment far too much negativity on here about our own team that keeps me off here most of the time. Like you say he has uprouted his family to earn good but not life changing money to be here (they are not overpaid footballers we watch) and he puts his all into every game as do each and every one.
Never understood the crap about Waterhouse he was class. What a difference he would have made to the left edge last week. His defence was so unsung.

| Completely agree with 1905. Sims is a fantastic player and brought in at the right time. We need experience and this guy has bags of it. To top it off he is a player who is fan friendly. I brought my godson to his first ever game (5 year old). Sims took the time to talk to him and tell him all about rugby and was instructing me to take loads of photos with him for his school. He even offered him down to training. Now this is what we need. Players who A) want to play for the club and play 100% every time and B) be approachable by the next generation of supporters.

| Haven't seen a bad performance from him yet. Admittedly this is only on the TV. I mean, this could mean he's reserving his energy purely for my benefit. Or equally likely ...

| I agree good signing and think there is more to come. Also think that he would be better off the bench where he can keep the momentum, if we get some, going.

| I honestly think one of the main problems that is affecting us & the game as a whole is the massive step up from under 19 to first team...the gap is too big & the teams trying to bring younger players through are paying the price. The teams that seem to be profiting have more experienced players in their ranks on match day.

| Couldnt agree more with 1905, he is good on the pitch never takes a backwards step and runs hard. Sticks up for his teammates when in need which is something that cant be said for other people on the pitch when the going gets tough.
Off the pitch he always has time for the fans and talks as if he knows them and understands them which again is something that cant be said for other players in the ranks.
Game against Wakefield also he vaulted the hoardings after one of the tries to high five a young disabled fan who will probably remember that for the rest of his life! Small things he does but with big impacts...rather like his on the pitch antics if you ask me.
I have bigger concerns around other players rather than Sims!

| Someone finally said it!
He gives his all and stands up for his teammates when needed.
His interaction with the fans is brilliant, he lives for the buzz he gets from it you can tell. He's always clapping to the crowd, getting us amped up. Top signing for us.

Got to agree with all the positive Sims stuff on here. If we can roar him on like we are starting to do (is it ironic?) with ROOOOOYYYYY!!!! then who knows it might just do us all some good?

You've mentioned this a few times now.
According the the wire website he his the same weight as hill and just 3cm taller.
He is 8cm taller than Harrison but 7kh heavier.
Westwood has played prop and is 6cm shorter and 8kg lighter than sims.
Jamie peacock is 3 cm taller than sims but 6kg lighter
Cuthbertson is 10cm shorter and 6 kg lighter.
Hes not the biggest prop in SL, but he's certainly big enough in my view.

| I think the ''enforcer'' bit has been overblown and that may have coloured some peoples judgment.
He's OK but not world beating.
Size isn't everything in a prop - Danny Nutley was very very good but only a small guy.
He's certainly no dud, and I'm happy to reserve judgment until the end of the season.

| Happens with almost all ex NRL forwards. If We signed the NSW front row and had the maroons front row on the bench we would still find something to whinge about. Aussie forwards are not superhuman. We think so because they have dominated in test matches for the last 40 years. We can match their forwards. Look at Morley, Burgess. Bros, cooper, etc etc.
The tip is to not get sucked into the hype to flog season tickets.
I have had premier sports for the last 3 seasons and there is not one forward that I could say are streets ahead of what we have over here.
Now half backs, wingers, centres and full backs are light years ahead.
Sims is doing nothing more or nothing less than I expected.
He is fine. But having said all that I didn't think that Tietzel was that bad.
