Widnes on a Thursday too!!

Well I have moved North now, but after living in the South for so long, I certainly sympathise. Even the Broncos have gone from the fixture list.

Good decision not to get a season ticket to many midweek night games.

Seriously no need for that, 6 derby games 5 of which are a Thursday, if that isn't taking the p*ss nothing is.

Why not one of each on Friday/Saturday/Sunday?

I joked about this on another thread thinking this wouldn't happen.
I'm genuinely really angry about this.

Saints on Sky seven weeks out of the first eight, plus the World Club Challenge.

As Sky has decided that Thursday night is the best night for viewing figures for Super League games then matches between Warrington, Wigan and Saints make perfect sense. They are big games to draw in viewers and also allow the majority of away fans to travel to the games and get back as well at a sensible time. I remember plenty of fans saying that these games should be "local" games to allow fans to travel yet that's what we get and as per the norm rugby league fans moan.

If you can't stay out beyond 10.30pm on a school night then at least you can watch it on tv.

The Widnes game on the Thursday is not even on Sky.

Another 4 games missed.. Same as last year

It was obviously going to happen. These are the biggest/best games of the regular rounds and are bound to be shown when viewing figures are highest eg Thursdays. With less teams in the league then each team is going to be on more often.

There are no tv games on Saturdays (excluding Catalans) or Sundays so they were never going to be played then, anybody could of worked that out.

I think it's six Sundays in total goodbye weekends, with Sky's insistence on Thursday evenings I had a feeling that more clubs would consider moving to Friday for less disruption, loved my Sundays.

I mentioned Friday, they could have mixed it up, 5 from 6 on Thursday? No need at all.

There are factors in my job that mean I need to be in work on a Thursday and shift workers who do 2-10, considering that a high percentage of jobs in Warrington and surrounding area are warehouse jobs/truck driving it doesn't even put those people behind a tv.
Are Warrington/Broomhead happy about this?
Games almost guaranteed to sell out on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday played in front of 8 or 9k?

That's home fixtures only though.

Another way of looking at home games is:

Thursday: 2 games
Friday: 2 games
Sunday: 6 games
Bank Holiday Monday: 1 game

Interesting planning re the Grand Final. Manchester should be an interesting place to be considering the England rah-rah team play their final world cup pool game at the Etihad on the same night.

You can bet most of our Super Dooper 8 games will be on a Thursday as well.

I cannot understand why live RL games cannot be televised on a Sunday afternoon?
Sky is very happy to televise football on a Sunday, so why not RL? When the football season is finished what reason is there not too?

It mustn't be good for viewing figures, prior to pulling out Premier Sports said Sundays were out of the question.

Sky coming around here, putting money into the game and then deciding when the most popular fixtures are televised on the night's with the highest viewing figures.

Disgusting. The game was far better off with one game on Saturday afternoon courtesy of ITV.

Premiership football wouldn't have games shown on weekdays.

All those part time leigh fans and part time fev fans detest the game but thanks to you for making sure I dont have to detest watching my team.

Please Sky could you move us to a 23:00 Wednesday night slot because no one will get angry because we all have to 'accept it'

5 from 6 derby games on Thursday was easily avoidable, they could have had 3 on Friday and still coined it in

Actually looking at it rationally and withdrawing any personal issues with Thursday nights, then we haven't come out of the Thursday fixtures too bad at all.

There are 22 rounds of Thursday night games so given that Catalans are tied to Saturday fixtures then each of the other 11 teams get 2 home and 2 away fixtures, which is exactly what we have. Our two away games are both extremely local to our travelling fan-base and against teams that play evening matches anyway (and we avoid Friday night motorway madness) so no missing out on Sunday games. Our two home Thursday fixtures are both in July when the weather should be better rather than a freezing February or March evening.

Looks like Gatcliffe and Broomhead may have pulled off a bit of a coup with these fixtures on behalf of the fans.
