Plan to take the missus to a nice restaurant anywhere in the town to celebrate an anniversary. She want to go to an Italian restaurant, but I'm hopeless with this sort of thing and couldn't tell the difference penne pasta or manicotti pasta.

Basically, what places in Warrington would you guys recommend? (And you can get Dominoes, Pizza Hut etc out of your systems!)

I can personally recommend the Thai Paragon in Culcheth ! Extremely nice , it's on the internet if u want to check it out !

Delgados in Penketh and Caffe Caruso are also very good.

Piccolinos for me. There's not a better restaurant in Warrington IMO

Whilst the Thai Paragon is indeed a very nice restaurant, their choices of italian dishes are extemely limited.

If you really want to treat her and don't mind going out of Warrington, try Guy's Thatched hamlet in garstang, absolutley superb Italian, pub, accomodation and setting on the Lancaster canal, i have been going there since 1990.

As said by some others Donatellos is ok.service a bit slow though.if you fancy anything other than italian the Grill on the Square is another nice place.or push the boat out and try the Horseshoe in croft.

There are many better restaurants than Piccolinos in Warrington. Which is certainly saying something.

Italian with a twist, try the White Apron on Church Street.

Can I just add Eden is better than Baffitos for Italian food and yes we have tried them both.

Trip Advisor is normally reliable for picking out the best options.

Isn't Eden owned by that who declared bankrupt so he didn't have to pay his shopfitters, then ran it as a cash only business so no-one could get paid either? Furthermore, for a special occasion, I may be high maintenence, but I'd want something a bit nicer than a place that offers 3 course + wine for £20. Better than Baffitos isn't much of a receommendation anyway! Walk round the corner and go to Grill On the Square instead.

Love Caruso and Donatello, heard good things about Delgados, and had some really nice meals in Piccolino too.

So there are 3 places I won't set foot in, bloody shyster.

I tried Delgados. The service was incredibly slow. We were the only ones in (4 adults, 4 kids) at 5.30, and we didn't escape til 7.45! I found the food pretty average and quite dear too. I like to support local independents, but wouldn't go back there at all.

Didn't him indoors try the "do you know who i am?" line with them?

Can I just say in defense of Eden, Mojo and Cotton Mill, these three restaurants are owned by the same person, but this is not who went bust. That was Sinatras. We supplied Eden, Mojo and Cotton Mill and were always paid in full.

The White Apron for me. If you listen to Wire fm they do promotions which you pay £10 and you get a £40 voucher.To be used in certain resturants in Warrington.I always use mine in the White apron. Cracking food not had bad meal yet.

Anyone ever tried that Ego place in Stockton Heath? Have a few friends always going on about it but never bothered myself. Donatello's is awful, been a few times and never cleared half my plate. Tried a place in Culcheth once, I can't remember the name but it was very average given the prices.

Ego, started off quite well. Don't rate it any more. I assume the Italian in Culcheth is Sopranos, to describe it as average would be kind.
