One of Currie's tries came from backing up a Hampshire break, but the other was a solo effort. Reckon he must be a shoe in for the test.

Why did he start on the bench though? I know Bateman played as well, but surely there can't be two back rowers at this age group who are better than Ben Currie.

Maybe because he is being 'rested' so he's fresh for the two Tests against Aussie Schoolboys.

This is the problem with rugby league today you have to play these meaningless fixtures that don't count for anything and its all down to the last couple of games of the season....makes a mockery of the fans

Next match will be on Saturday against Parramatta. There are 24 lads touring so I expect all those that didn't play in the first game will get a run out in this one.

They only took 23 players no-one replaced Stevie Ward when he dropped out.
I believe the other six will play from the info I have had today.
The likes of Percival, Farrell, Tierney etc will get a game.
What will be interesting is to see which players will "double up" from yesterdays game.

I wonder if that's why Currie and Williams were started from the bench, as I would expect they would be starting players in the test matches.

Looks like a plan. I would have thought Hampshire, Currie and Farrell would certainly have been pencilled in for the test on the plane.

I'm not sure about Farrell although he was my m.o.m. v France. I would love to have seen Currie, Bateman and Ward as our back three.

I would go with Hampshire and Williams at 6 &7.

I'd also be tempted to go with Saltonstall and Percival in the centres. We may struggle up front.

Surprised they didn't take our 'steal' from Leeds; Learmonth. Anyway, Ward will be missed and it will certainly be won or lost in the forwards. If only you had knocked out Leeds !

You should try it. It's a few years ago now, but I'll never ever forget watching St George play the Roosters at Kogorah, spending a full afternoon sat on a grassy bank with 17,000 other people drinking Tooheys Old Black. I could recommend it to anyone.

Hampshire scored a hatrick, Bateman had a very good game by the sound of it setting up at least two tries. AND Currie scored a solo try from 45m after fooling the defence and cruising through.
