after watching this thrashing is it time to end this magic weekend or plan it better..by that id like to see london or cas or wakey play widnes..may be stick with the hull derby or saints and wigan but what does a hammering like widnes got do for our game..by the way ive been to many magic weekends and enjoyed the event so dont think im being critical but games like this are surely no good for the game...

This weekend should have been Wigan V Wire, Hudds V Cats etc .. ie 1st v 2nd 3rd v 4th and so on.

totally agree it was men v girls today. (no disrespect to the girlies) it would have been far better to match teams who are on the same level e.g. widnes v salford wire v wigan stains v leeds hudds v bradfurt etc.
watching a team like widnes get stuffed by a wire team who "rested" players does nothing for our great game

doing that you`d see more competitive games..still keep the magic weekend and however the league stands 2 weeks before the magic weekend then the 1st plays 2nd 3rd plays 4th etc...love watching the wire win but even i was getting a bit bored with what was on offer today..

were there calls for the Manchester Derby to be scrapped after City beat united 6-1....? or similarly Calls for Arsenal to be chucked out the league when united beat them 8-2

Would wigan Rather have played Widnes or Saints....... Well Widnes have already beat Wigan while Saints have lost twice already to wigan..........

you cant organise a mid season fixture simply by how teams are positioned in the league at that moment in time, its ludicrous.........

my experience of bad posts goes up a notch when you arrive.......

All you do Biscuit is say from the off that the Magic weekend is played the week after all the teams have technically played each other once, it gives an indication of roughly how good your form is.

1v2, 3v4 etc is

a) Fair - There's no distance between the clubs
b) Exciting - The league positions could change as a result, you'e making every game the proverbial '4 pointer'

More marketable plus people are getting fed up of derby overkill, how many times will Wigan play Saints this year?
3 times in the league
the quarter final
possibily twice in the playoffs, it's a joke.

Granted Wigan might have to play Saints anyway if they're 3rd & 4th etc but at least then they are evenly matched.

1v2 etc should be the direction to take, todays result (even though i haven't seen the game) was just too easy and not much of a spectacle unless you're a Wire fan.

Its easy, if you select a round before the season starts, then everybody knows, whats the problem...

It should have been Wigan v Widnes, would have been a much closer game and Widnes would have had a chance at taking the two points.

keep it as it is, with all derbies. It's not our fault that they are rubbish. If it had been 25 or even 10 years ago, it would have been closer. What goes around, comes around.

I really enjoyed today. It’s not perfect, but in a few seasons I hope Widnes will be a much better team, and it will be up there with the other good derby games. 30,000 people went today and enjoyed themselves, success in my book.

Great day out today, the move to Manchester worked well I reckon. Great support to the lads. There is a question of fairness though. How about making it the last game of the regular season and playing the teams who are next to each other in the table against each other ie 1v2, 2v3 etc.

great idea..but who would watch teams that are 12th 11th and so on where they have nothing to play for..imagine cas v widnes..riveting viewing...the 2 weeks before should be 1st v 2nd..3rd v 4th etc etc and etc...

How does watching a massacre like that benefit the sport in any way, shape or form? That's what the Magic Weekend is all about of course - promoting the sport.

if wire fans think that the game with widnes was entertaining in any way they need to change their rose colour'd specs, a complete waist of time as will be the dragon game and the giants game, in fact the whole weekend will become a farce. just give wire giants and dragons 2 points and drop their matches!

Personally think this MM weekend is pointless and an ego trip by the rfl. The only team it suited this season was Warrington. It's no wonder the league leaders shield means very little when we get to play Widnes 3 times this season and Saints/ Wigan have to play each other 3 times. 1 game sees 6 points to Wire, whilst the other is a toss of the coin in 3 games.

If we must keep on with MM, then count it as a home/away fixture, ie, Wire classed as the home team 1 season, then Widnes the following season, and stick to 28 games.

We did have eight players out, should have levelled it out. Widnes have beaten the better teams before, it's just unfortunate that those teams didn't have the fantastic squad depth that Tony Smith has at his disposal.

Let the bottom six play each other and intruduce a couple of points extra for the team that scores the most points or conceades the less points..

We got an easy game, Wigan and Saints have got a hard game, and people on here are complaining about it? Keep it as it is!

Anyway, I've never been to Magic Weekend before as I've never been interested in it as a concept and we've never had an actual derby in it before this season. I went yesterday though because it was local and we were playing our rivals and I enjoyed the whole day thoroughly. I still wouldn't go to Cardiff or Edinburgh for it, but if it stays in Manchester I'll be there every year.
