+1 think some people expect the NRL players that come over to be superhuman or something at times and hammer teams each week. Give it a couple of stand out games and people will be saying he is the best import ever.

Wasn't there so don't know the extent of this, but you never boo your team (or cheer them getting subbed as it were).

I didn't notice that bit in particular, but when he came back on near the end of the second half, some of the chavs near the drum boo'd his name. Probably the same morons that were booing Matt King...

Didn't approve myself, though I got the impression it was light hearted and in jest, in the same way that Hodgson is booed for missing the odd kick. Calls for people to be banned are just silly...

Well out out of order. Trent had a good game soaked a lot of pressure up and distributed the ball well. If fans want to boo they should of been booing carvel and wood over the few displays

Like any club, we have fans who are not the sharpest tools in the box. This type of behaviour is moronic but unfortunately only to be expected from a minority. No doubt it does loads for a players confidence........

Totally out of order , however I discussed this with one of the Wire fans there and there was a cheer for Harrisons's return who replaced Trent at the time.

I think they were probably the same people who called for Matt King to be hung drawn & quartered, after being tarred & feathered a few years ago. People who know nothing about the game. I heard it and was embarrassed by it.

This was my take on it too, not that they cheered Waterhouse off, more applauding Ben Harrisons return.

Now that is ironic! The same people were slagging off Benny Harrison at the back end of last season.

If that's the case, why did the same deadheads boo when his return was announced?

Trent is one of many of our players who isn't in the best of form. Booing our own is out of order, whatever the reason we don't want 'support' like that.

I wouldn't boo our players but to be honest people get too worked up about this, fans pay their ticket prices and are entitled to have their opinion. Obviously you don't want obscene personal abuse but if someone wants to voice their opinion on whether a player is good or bad that's part of the game, players put themselves up to play in front of an audience and thats what comes with it, it's like being a stand up comedian you are going to get hecklers if you are no good.

When people say Wire fans were hypocrites because they booed Matt King in his first season and then hero worshipped him after that, thats because King wasn't that good in his first season and after that he was quality so its not really hypocrisy its just that our fans are harsh critics and expect high standards.

Waterhouse isn't a kid making his first team debut, he's a top player whose played at representative level in Australia and was one of the top performers in the NRL and from the evidence of NRL forums their fans are not exactly politically correct when it comes to voicing their opinions on players who are struggling for form, so he's not going to have heard anything here that he hasn't heard in Aus.
