| I know we play an expanisve game, but how many times do we have to start games with a flurry of dropped balls. This is the third big game on the bounce that we have started this way. We got away with it at Wigan, but we were just as careless at Leeds. I think we went on to defend very well for the last sixty minutes as did St Helens, but we need to respect possession alot more. We conceded eighteen points from our own dropped balls. Not too fussed about the defeat, we lost two home games against mid-table sides last year, can get a couple of silly ones each year.

| Yeah not too bothered about the 2 points dropped, the performance was just crazy though. Didn't see the incident at the end of the 1st half properly but it just seemed like plain stupidity, almost handing a try to Saints right on the hooter just after we had scored. Again start of the second half Hill concedes possession with a daft offload, just stupid studid rugby. They need to smarten up.

| Is Briers injured? He didn't look right tonight.
Your important players were all shocking tonight.
1 - Hodgson, dropped pretty much every decent ball apart from the one he scored from. His worst ever game for Wire?
6 - Briers, couple of classic Briers moments, but didn't look himself
7 - Myler, completely out of position in most attacking moves, meant Warrington weren't able to shift the ball quick enough
9 - Monaghan, outclassed and embarassed by James Roby again. When our pack was on top Roby was in control of the game like a puppeteer, when yours was top he was like a pneumatic drill at your defense.
Warrington's pack did reasonably well tonight, coping better than Leeds last week with Saints assault on the ruck area. But the attacking structure was pathetic tonight. Far too many times your line looked like a lightning bolt in shape across the line, rather than a deep line and it was Myler who was daydreaming most of the time and not pushing up to the position he should have been in to spread the play. So whenever you did spread the ball there was no fluidity and balls went to ground.
Warrington then compounded that by panicking whenever you did get good position. Hodgson's kick out on the first tackle with 10 to go summed you up tonight. A lot of your fans will say it was just because you played poorly, but you couldn't cope with the first 30 minute onslaught from Saints and not many sides in SL could.

| Outplayed by Roby again? Never outplayed Monas once last year? I'll agree r.e Roby tonight, but you weren't amazing the first 30 minutes. 18 points were gifted to you through poor ball retention. i think your defence in your own 20 was unbelievable.

| The exact thread title I was going to go for. Enough is enough.
Saddened has made a brave attempt but not really nailed it.
Our pack was shocking to a man tonight. Every one of the props came up with a total Ben Cross offload, each of them within our own 20m or 30m. Disgusting. When we decided to run the ball up straight, we looked decent enough. Unfortunately it was far too late before anyone did that.
Myler was terrible, but perhaps guilty of overplaying or even trying too hard. I didn't think Briers was bad at all, nor indeed was Hodgson until the last 20 minutes when he had a series of brainfarts. For me only Riley came out with any real credit, he wasn't at fault for the horrible read by Atkins for the first try.
Very disappointing. If we continue to play that style, a play-off car crash is a foregone conclusion. If Wigan were as good as they think they are, that result would have come a week earlier.

| Agree with the Ghostman. Just watching it on sky+ now and it seems like Saints got away with a ton of decisions in the first 30 mins too. Hodgson was poo though.

Spot on about our lads really. But I don't think you were that great, you didn't need to be. It was far from an all conquering performance. I'm not saying it was all down to us being so poor but I think anyone in Super League could have been three scores up against us in that first half hour. Saints were good - I don't mean to sound like you weren't - but not fantastic.

| Rank dogdirt performance simple as. We got out of jail at Wigan as they could not finish. Our pack was decimated tonight. Carvell should be fined for abject bovine stupidity for that offload with 5 seconds to go. Wood looked like he was playing for them. Monas outclassed by Roby. Blythe brainfart offload on 1st in own 40 then backs up with a penalty then try. (He is not top SL standard in a million year). We have had better games against Saints under Cullen and that is ing saying something.
Big challenge for Smith. I detect an unsettled camp.

| This aint some massive conspiracy theory, we lost a game of Rugby to a better team.
Gutted about the amount of fans who abandoned the new corner with 10-15 mins left though. There was only a handful of us left for the last 10 mins.

Because he never picked the same team week in week out and his use of subs was dire to say the least,it disrupted the team and now their shackles are off and they can be more creative.

Harsh. I was slagged off since my comments on Cullen being gash pre 2006*. When there was a general love in. I've hardy breathed a word since TS turned it around. Something isnt right at Wire we are scarcely recognisable from last season. Maybe it's just the ageing team that peaked last season.
*Actually you can trace it back to 2004 where I said we would win nothing under him conceding an average of 22.5+ points per game. Anyway I prob know nowt. But if you were happy with that, neither do you.

I think the players just got frustrated under Royce. He tried to change the way Saints play, continuing Potter's shift in emphasis away from the 'Saints way' of playing. For the second half of his first year in charge the players gave it their all, but from reading the comments made by players there were a lot of things in his coaching that just confused them. His rotation policies that disrupted the team, his back on the bench policy, which was just stupid with 10 interchanges and his attacking moves. Jon Wilkin said recently they didn't know what they were doing on the field and felt clueless as to what he actually wanted them to do.
I don't think Rush and Cunningham have done anything miraculous, they've just gone back to the senior players, the likes of Flannery, Gardner and shifting Hohaia to the halves. Then they've adopted the tactics we used early in Super League and under Millward in focusing the attack through the middle around the ruck. The pack is charging in, getting to ground and Roby is up and active from dummy half again. They are also clearly given far more freedom to offload and play off the cuff when it suits, something both Potter and Simmons were against, preferring 'safe' rugby.

Carry on like this and it will be back to the days of 1986 crowds wise at FT. Having said that at least we had a pack then that stood up and were counted for.

| The problem with a lot of our forwards seems to be confidence. For me, if you're not confident, or if you're not pulling things off, you should always go back to the basics and simply drive it as hard as you can up the middle. If you burst the tackle and your entire body is free, maybe look for a clear offload, if not, just take the tackle and play the ball. Too often there seems to be little thought into what they are doing: Paul Wood done the daftest offload tonight about 20m from our line, they scored straight from it. Against Wigan last week, he done a similar thing, offloaded as his arm was inches from the ground, thankfully the ref called it back for the high shot but it's clear, he's doing things without conscience and without indication. Whether Smith's put him straight about it, I don't know, but Paul clearly needs to go back to the basics to build his confidence and form up. Carvell is similar, seems to be looking for an offload at every opportunity, tonight the support play wasn't brilliant, but that's no excuse to turn around and throw it blindly.
For me, Morley was decent tonight, he ran hard and, although he isn't as effective as he once was, he was, alongside Hill, fairly decent, although his defence was suspect.

Didn't Morley go off injured around the half hour mark and not return? Something to do with his elbow?

Agreed but I think the forward problem is decision making. At 10 min in 12-0 down it was a case of hard yards yet we spunk the ball up. I think we all know, but hate to say, Morley has already played his best game for us in previous seasons. A pale imitation of the legend we was.
