It is getting silly

We've got to realise there's life outside the British Isles, when it comes to selecting host cities for major games, and then us not getting them. We had plenty of knock backs in the late 70's all the way up to the early 90's to stage the Olympics. We've just got to live with it.
We need to realise that simply saying "We've not had it for 40 years", wheeling out Beckham, a royal the PM, and the old chestnut "we invented the game, so we deserve it", simply isn't good enough.

Mind you, has everyone's favourite Russian oligarch and a few bulging brown envelopes got anything to do with it...hmmmmmm

It's called 'development.' The last World Cup has developed South African football to the extent that teams are now playing in 60,000 all seater stadiums to crowds of 500 miles from anywhere. The whole thing is absolutely bent. The recent allegations in the Times and on Panorama have shown that.

i cant see why everyone is getting so touchy about it, we didnt win, two other countries did, football is now about development, and how can a country that has arguably the best league in the world, best grounds, etc host the world cup, im all for other countries getting it.

Hopefully will be freezing cold and lousy weather in Russia and played on crap pitches with lumps all over them so that it negates any technical skill and makes it about which teams are physically fit and can run around and get stuck in.
