Don't they have under soil heating at the LSV? The only reason the game will be off if that's the case is because of the safety of the footpaths surrounding the ground as was the case last year IIRC.

Steve Ganson is ref
Wigan's Danny Bridge (Chris's brother I think) has scored Wire's O'Brien kicked the goal 6-0

Laithwaite had a good game.
George Burgess and Sam Powell were outstanding.
Rhys Evans sadly had a poor game by his standard. His wing partner Reece Lynne was terrible, considering he has had Superleague experience. He dropped the ball over the try line and then ran into touch whilst in the act of scoring with no one near him.
Englands scorers were Powell(2), King, Bridge, Sarsfield and Thompson with O'Brien kicking seven goals.
England should have been out of site by half time (Ganson crucified the Aussies).

| Rhys Evans made a couple of early mistakes but was pretty sound after that. Brother Ben had put in a long stint at prop before going off after a clash of heads (the two rotation props had just gone off so looked like he might had done near enough the full eighty).
O'Brien was very good and consistent through-out and the better of the English half-backs for me.
Laithwaite got his second running man of the match for England Academy and continues to impress under the radar, although George Burgess was mom for my money.
Aussies discilpline was dreadful - they can moan all they want and although Ganson was at his pedantic worse they were their own worse enemies. Chatting back to Ganson continually will get you no-where. I expect they will look to fly Archer in for the return on Friday.
Well done England Academy.

| Good win for the young lads always nice to beat the Aussies plus they have had a few warm up games together.
George Burgess is going Souths according to Bradford board, good for him and his game but not for Bradford.

| went to the game and was amazed at the tackling that Laithwaite did for the full 80 at loose forward. He has a great passing game as well and is certainly one for the future for us. Much better prospect than Westerman at Cas/Hull. I'm not at all surprised he got MOM and for the second game running- brill. He looks like he just gets on with his game and does the hard work but he has alot of skill.
Ben Evans was also very good, although as a prop, he got overshaddowed by George Burgess who pushed Laithwaite for MOM. Burgess takes your eye because he is so effective with the ball in hand but a little static when defending and the quick Aussie hooker caught him out at least once.Evans was much better defensivly than Burgess.
The other Evans in the centre was at best poor, missed tackles and lost the ball a couple of times when running forward. Hes quick and aggressive and probably needs more time at this level. or perhaps he just had a bad day today.
O'Brien, seen him play a few times and was the second best of the 2 halfs. Powell, the Wigan lad, took the ball into the line much more than Obrien(twice in 80mins) and as a halfback this worries me. However Obrien has a fantastic kicking game and controlled his forwards well around the field.
i thought that Obrien at 6 and Laithwaite at 13 linked very well, good for the future at Wire.
On the whole a good day for England and looking forward to the 2nd clash next Friday, if its at leigh get down and support the Wire lads.
other point is that Sam + joel Tompkins and Oloughlin were all there supporting England and the Wigan lads. Bridge was there l guess cause his brother was there playing and representing wigan but i did not see any other Wire players?

| Picture in one of the League newspapers this morning of the team and Laithwaite looks huge an he's standing next to Burgess, sounds like Rhys had an off day, hope it is moved to Leigh again so I can go straight after work on Friday.

Thanks for the great review,
From the little i have seen of him, O'Brien has a great kicking game and the England coach mentioned it in his after match comments.
Do you think O'Brien will keep his play for friday considering Cain Southernwood is in the squad and he has Super League experience and is highly rated ?
