| ..... was it just me or were they annoying this year on TV ??
too many overhead shots from the helicopter and the gantry camera shots seem to take the "depth" out of the TV coverage
or maybe I should have gone to SpecSavers !!

| I agree that Gantry Camera lost depth of field for the viewer.

| Where was the helicopter for the last video ref decision? Or was it not a "usable" camera angle for the purposes of the video ref? and if not WTF did they spend the money on putting it up there?

Yep they went to it for a second or two, but because of the position of the helicopter at that moment in time, the roof was blocking the view of Smith.

| Not seen the Sky coverage as I've just got back from the game but I seen the camera whizzing across back and to in the stand and I thought it was a good idea. Will have to see what it looks like.
Saying that though, they used it last year too and it was pretty decent so I doubt anything will have changed.

| Sky doing the Grand Final on the cheap, you wouldn`t get that one camera does virtually all at a premeirship football game at Old Trafford yet its deemed good enough for RL`s big occasion.

Surely if they where trying to save money and be cheap, they wouldn't put a helicopter up??
The camera on the cable is a good idea. It means that the camera is always pretty level with play, giving good angles the majority of the time without having cameras everywhere.
Thought at times it was a little wierd though, the game looked like fifa.

I totally agree. Very poor and annoying coverage, I thought.

| I don't understand why they didn't go to a "side on" view for Eastmonds try. That would have shown if he touched the ball forward onto Donald.

said to the people i was watching with, you got a better view from the far corner, the original camera view they showed during play.
WTF they decided to just stick with the one angle, made no sense at all.
yet i've complained on here in the past about sky not using all available views, making the decision then showing a different angle after the goal has been kicked which puts another slant on it.

| I'm going to go totally against the grain and say I actually quite liked the use of the different camera angles. I wasn't so keen on the helicopter shots but I really liked the rail cameras.
I also liked the extra commentary from Barry & Terry from the touchline during the game, it gave a real sense of them being 'right there' in the action, especially when you could see the teams getting ready to kick off behind them.
I think the Sky team deserve plaudits for trying something different and interesting, too many people want things to stay the same to the detriment of positive progress.

| I found the gantry camera quite annoying mainly because there weren't any metre markings on the pitch (10,20,30,40,50), so when Eastmond went in for his try you couldn't tell whether he was sprinting in from 20metres out or 60metres

| It didn't work as it never gave you any idea where the attacking players where in relation to the the try line.

| I find it irritating that everyone complains about the Sky team, same boring coverage blah blah. Yet when they try something new everyone still complains.

| Not a complaint but it didn't work for me - perhaps they should have given the traditional coverage and used the different angles for replays / highlighting points etc
Too often the collisions were missed because of the wide angle approach - no pitch markings didn't help either, though the game was being played either side of the half way line for 80 minutes
