Totally agree Mark, was just reading the Guardian website and theres pictures of Lee in tears after being knocked out of the last semi against Wigan in 2004.

I've not always been Lee's biggest fan but we are a worse team without him. It's a shame so much pressure has been on him as our only real playmaker.

He is a big game player and will try things, think on Sat he will either be a hero or a villain. Depending on whether his plays come off.

But he certainly deserves to play in a major final, despite what others may say I think he genuinely loves the club.

John Woods was the same in the 1989 semi final against Wigan. He had never played at Wembley. Let's hope Lee can go one better.

I know there is next season where, hopefully, we will be far better after a pre-season under Smith, but I can't help feeling that this could well be Lee's last chance of a final. After so narrowly missing out on a final at the start of his career at Saints (dropped for a fit again Goulding for the final), it would be tragic if he were to miss out again now.

Celebrations like that are not for semis. Whoever you play in the final should you win would take that as an advantage.

I know that he has barely been involved in the international setup, has overseen a period of mediocrity when he was the major player at Wire, then with all the new talent that they've brought in over the last few years Briers has diminished in importance, losing his captaincy, and even talk earlier this season of him going to play in the lower leagues.

Hardly smacks of world class, or anywhere near the standard required to grace the Wembley turf.

The biggest problem Briers has had during his eleven years or so at Warrington has been some of the dross playing around him. I have no doubt that had he stayed at Saints, or a coach the caliber of Tony Smith had been at Warrington ten years ago (with the financial clout we now possess) then Briers would have a draw full of medals and international caps at home.

The few semi-finals we have made over the years, and the fact that we remained in SL despite some of the less than average (at best) players at the club is because of Briers quality rather than in spite of it.

i will actually be so pleased for lee if we win this one out. he deserves it. He hasnt given up on the wire all this time and neither should we. talk about commitment. Lee will be raring the lads on throughout the full 80 mins.

I'm slightly bemused, and a little concerned by this attitude....Yes, victory tomorrow should be celebrated in a fashion, but to celebrate as though we have actually WON the trophy, really does give the impression of a small-time club....which is an accusation most of us on here like to refute, when opposition fans come on here throwing the term around.

As the Wiganer points out, let's wait until we win the final before going overboard...
