| We needed it at the end there, but sometimes you just have to hand it to Saints, from minute one to the last, they have the potential to make you look absolutely stupid and not knowing your ass from your elbow. Some ridiculous decisions in the first half could have seen us lose the plot but we held in there which was admirable. Over the line enought o have comfortably, unlucky in some respects.

| I thought we needed the exact opposite. Composure. Plenty of opportunities to win that game - we didn't take them.

Precisely. Warrington were in full on panic mode throughout. I understand the gameplan was to get a quick play the ball, but it was too quick from Warrington tonight. Sloppy play the balls all over the shop, which resulted in as much disorganisation in the Warrington line as the Saints line. Saints markers stopped Clarke, Russell and Ratchford tonight, Warrington should have had more composure as we can't defend our line when it's shifted quickly.

Your team effort is fantastic.
With two decent halfbacks you would really take some stopping.

| The sooner the better MD. I know we've not always seen eye to eye but I'm with you on most things. It's taken TS 2 years to work out out hb are not good enough.
Myler and GOB constantly make the same errors.
GOB is a good kid but he is championship material. Myler is SL but I've said many times he is a square peg in a round hole.
We question players ability but TS make clangers that make little pink aliens look like candidates for the Oscars.
I don't want him to move but he is so bloody stubborn. I have a suspicion Sandow and probably Gidley had SJM written all over it, I recon he has pulled rank on TS and gone out to put right the hb issue.
Listening to TS on local radio, he comes across soft about the signing of Sandow.

we have certainly disagreed.... but over the last few years i dont think we have had one decent HB.
GOB
Bridge
Myler
Ratchford
none of them good enough....
thats why smith is looking to bring in gidley and sandow.... this side needs new direction
we currently probably have
a) the worst kicking game
b) the least creative halves in the league
roll on next season

That's the biggest thing with us. Our game management is amateur at times.
Leading the team around the pitch or to a certain area of the pitch, the choice of kick, the quality of kick, if there's even a kick at all because we've lost the tackle count, quick thinking to change the script when a defence has scuppered a set-set of six, speed and precision of passing...is all lacking all too often.

| The 6 & 7 controlled the game for Saints. They and the pack were on top. Therein lies Wires problem and has been for 2 years.
I still want to see a quality prop brought in, and half a stone or more banged onto Sims. He couldn't make inroads into the Saints pack tonight.

we need a decent new prop and 2 new HB's.... infact we probably need 2 new props.
next season we will have lost lost cooper, morley, carvell, wood, asotasi..... and replaced them with england..... we are obviously light in the front row....im expecting at least 2 new props to come in.

Burns and Walsh were (in my eyes) playing second/third fiddle to Roby. It was Roby who conducted things.
Walsh had a couple of good kicks in the second half that put our FB under pressure. Burns was he usual self a pretty average player with a need to niggle instead of being creative.
As MD says wouldn't want either in the team going forward.
I think England needs some time to get his confidence back.
We need Sandow or one of the many being looked at immediately, a drunken squirrel has more creativity that our half backs.

This is true, Walsh has only played 3 or 4 games and is settling in, Burns is unpredictable and an irritant to the opposition. For Roby, teams have been trying to keep him out of the game for the last 10 years but 99% of the time they can't. He scored a try in "his sleep" last night.

Roby has all of the game management that i talked about above. He leads his team to certain areas of the pitch, he provides space for his players to get time on the ball for a good pass or kick, if a set-set of six is read and shut down by the opposition he creates something new himself from a run or a bullet pass the other way, he can even kick well from the back of the ruck and he's about the fifth best kicker in Saints team...he'd be the best in our team.
It does help then that when roby has done 75% of the team's work from tackle 1-5, that on the last they have four good kickers of the ball (Turner, Burns, Wilkin and Walsh) - Walsh's bombs weren't just about his good kicks, they were also about the space provided by Roby to allow him to kick them.

| Someone who ain't afraid to dish out a roasting when needed. Not enough vocal players you'd expect the likes of Westwood Sims Hill to be barking orders or jeering up the players. Gidley night offer that only time will time.
Sandow wouldn't have made a difference last night Saints had a game plan which wasn't to dissimilar to ours against Wigan.

How would I rate Burns?
A grub, that's how I would rate him. A whining, complaining, dirt merchant s---house. Makes Jason Hooper look like a law abiding RL player.
As for Walsh, he looked knackered to me. Like he's still not fully fit.

More composure & less panic rugby.

Well exactly. Our halves weren't and aren't great. We're the champions and currently top of the league. The claims that Warrington would clean up if they had half backs seems a bit daft. Your current halves are every bit as good as ours.
