I can just see Kevin Penny scoring on friday night, will be one of his long distance trys as he sprints away from the trailing defenders. On the other hand tho, I think briersy will pepper him with alot of high balls and we could be in for a few trys from that area.

I can see him going the length of the field, flying past everyone.

Think he'd get a decent reception too. Never said a bad word against the club (I dont think) and just wasn't good enough to fit into Mr Smith's plans. As long as it isn't the winning try obviously!!!

I felt sorry for KC, all he needed was a decent defensive coach.

i think he may leak more tries than he scores.

opposite side of the field, they've got him right winging at the moment.

however that does put him up against riley(good lad, spells his name correctly) so i would guess that sky might do a contrasting fortunes/head to head style package for the build up.

Veivers is our week link at the moment more so than Penny.

They should show the Wires Wigan game from a few years ago where Penny made Chris Ashton look like an absolute Carthorse.

Now that’s a better comparison. Ashton got dogs abuse from the pie fans that day while Penny was flavour of the season.

Back on thread, I hope Penny has an absolute cracker, yet still ends up the the losing side, obviously.

I think Penny got hung out to dry by both Cullen (in his latter days at the club) and Lowes.
Kevin had some flaws in his game (obviously) yet was devastating in attack (easily the most exciting player since a certain young RU player went to Widnes in 1987). Every player drops the ball occasionally (Penny did it no more than anyone else, imo) yet, just like typical British people, we HAVE to pick fault in somebody's game, just to make a point.

Mr Smith didn't fancy him, so I and countless other Penny fans at the club, have to live with it. Ho Hum.

Refering back to Biscuit's earlier post , I remember that try he scored against Ashton. WOW. The video got worn out on that one. No-one else at the club in the last 30 years (with the possible exception of Henare) could have scored that try.

I liked Penny. I always thought he had more potential than Riley.

But over time I had to grudgingly accept that Riley was a much more complete player, and Riley was fast enough and a prolific enough try scorer that Penny's one advantage over him was more or less nullified.

Still the best finisher in this country. Penny can score tries that no other player in SL can score.

I don't think he ever was the best finisher.

He was never as good as Hicks or Pat Richards.

The 1 memory of Kevin Penny that will always stick with me is that game in the cup against us at KR. Scored what was probably try of the season, followed instantly by throwing the ball to Gidley on your own try line to gift us a try. Summed him up perfectly I thought xD

thing is though no winger has scored a try like that since...loads of of other players have knocked on driving the ball off their own line...

that sums him up, but more importantly sums up certain fans attitude's toward him.

you have to remember some of Penny tries have been up against the countries best players in their in pomp (and Ade Gardner) when the Salford player stands up and the Bradford players let him go the players in shot are Ricky Sherrife,Michael Platt, and a near 40 year old steve menzies. come on eh
