| Any recommendation from current members and ideas on monthly / joining fees?
Used to be a member or TotalFitness on Winwick road but it went badly downhill just before I left (unrelated reason).

| DW fitness (JJB) is good value - Its about £31pm for full membership. You can also use any of their other gyms like Widnes, wigan or st helens without any extra cost. It never gets to busy in there either. Ive been a member of 10 years and I dont think the price has ever gone up.

| Also recommend DW Fitness as well, they have good facilities and the price is very good value.
Recently re-tiled the steam room and showers since it became DW, and most of the equipment was replaced just before it became DW.
I used to go to Total Fitness but it was too far out of the way to get to so I didn't go as much. With DW being in the town centre I get there at least 3 times a week and sometimes I do 5 days.

| Avoid the council gyms, they're really basic and there's nothing you wont outdo within 6 weeks.
DW's pretty good and as long as youre not planning going at night times in the week then 24 quid for off peak memberships pretty good value.
If you work in town you can usually get a discount on that too, have to ask.
Total Fitness is probably the best in and around town but its expensive unless youre paying full wack at JJB, which not many do

| Select Leisure for me. Just opposite work so easy for me to get to.
(Go on, give you time to make a joke...finished?)
Can either go there or have the choice to go any of the others in Warrington, which is fine by me.
Wouldn't go DW on principal, and TF is very good, but expensive and out the way for me. I'm sure most will let you try them out first, if just once.

| Select Fitness for me too, well, when I was able to go to the gym.
Used to go Total Fitness, but it was always packed, plus you'd have all the morons in "Roid Rage Corner" so you could never use any of the manual weight machines.

| Alive and Well in Birchwood is a small but well equipped gym with a good atmosphere and excellent trainers plus there's a lot of rl fans which go so the banter is always good.. I pay £35 a month for full membership.
Total Fitness is gash, full of posers and cliques and the staff don't give a stuff.

| Was a member at David Lloyd from openning up until this year. The best by miles, but ultimately £70 a month was just too steep. Haven't joined another yet, but fancy DW i think. Would venture up to Hard Labour, but i'm not a juiced up monkey shouting at weights....

| It really depends what you want. Total Fitness is probably the blue print for Fitness Centres, having a nice selection of free weights in 'roid rage corner, multiple resistance machines, loads of cardio space, plus studios and regular classes, ranging from beginners spinning to Boxercise, plus a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. It is a bit pricey and they tie you into a 12 month contract that you can't get out of, regardless, which is a ballache, so it's probably best to look ahead 12 months before signing anything. Seems petty, I know, but I know a fair few people who signed up for the sake of going to a gym, then within couple of months had stopped going, moved home, gone to Uni, etc etc and still had to pay their monthly membership fee.
Hard Labour or O'Malleys are great for the old school 'weights monkey'. Interesting aside, O'Malleys was where Mike Gregory trained when he was at Warrington, and also where Davey Boy Smith trained before emigrating to Canada.
DW and David Lloyd are poor versions of Total Fitness and both place more emphasise on Customer retention and the corpate image than actually training. Don't expect any of the Fitness Instructors in any of those three to actually help you if you look a bit lost; that'd be too much like hard work for them. There is probably more work done to make the bar and chaning rooms look all nice and shiny than there is helping their members progress. They do have first rate resistance machines, but DW's actually weight area is tiny in comparison to Total and even David Lloyd. Hard Labour, I would say, is possibly the best atmosphere of all the gyms Very few regulars would have a problem giving you a hand if you need spotting or any training advice. A training programme template is available, too, and the staff have no problems helping you along the way.
