His statement earlier this week was a blatant attempt
to get the disciplinary committee to ban Mcguire.

Unfortunately, his efforts will only have the effect of de-valueing
the win if Wigan do win.

The response from Leeds has been far more in-keeping with RL
standards and integrity.

I for one am hoping for a Leeds win.

But I do think its up to the RFL to punish Wane for his outburst,
maybe with substantial fine.

Totally out of order and deserves all the critisism from the rest of
the RL.

Tony Smith is probably the most outspoken coach in Super League, and loves a moan. Its quite ironic that this thread exists on this board.

He wouldn't have asked for McGuire to be banned, probably the opposite, he'd have wanted him to play, TS usually moans about silly RFL initiatives, like clubcall and having too many teams in the playoffs.

Can't stand Wane in the same way i couldn't stand Jimmy Lowes when he was our coach, classless and base.

You'd be more accepting of Jimmy Lowes if he won you the league.

In a way I'm hoping that O'Loughlin, Leuluai, Finch or best of all Tomkins come up with something similar to Maguire tomorrow night if only to hear what pearls of wisdom Wane will share on the subject.

This is a massive surprise! Another thread on the wire board about Wigan! Anyone would think you wolfs were obsessed or were suffering from small club syndrome! Out of interest what did Wane say about McGuire, any links? Was it similar to the comments made about Andy Coley last season?

I think you'll find in several cases where opposition players have been charged this year, the warrington club/players who were fouled, have spoken out in favour of said players,in an attempt to prevent/lesson and suspensions.

As opposed to jumping up and down,trying to get them suspended.

Or jumping up and down shouting about not having his pack bullied.

Or jumping up and down shouting about ratboy getting bullied.

Or jumping up and down at the top of a building throwing burning barrells.

might i suggest you go use your 42 and 43rd posts, to go onto the wigan board, and complain about the 12 page warrington thread and the 5 page tony smith thread if you dont think its right to be talking about 'other teams' on other forums.

Or perhaps grow up and realise its current events and talking points, involving the last 4 teams left in the comp.

Oh dear sorry it's upset you, but i ask when did the RFL show any standards and integrity also with a Judge on the panel and one Mr G Hallas (an ex Leeds man) i don't think they'll be bothered what any outsider has to say.

I would think that the RFL has shown a fair bit of integrity by having a judge on the panel. What connection does Mr Hallas have with Leeds? Ex-Hunslet coach maybe? i don't think that Leeds were amongst his many clubs. You should also note that McDermott stated that they had been given a fair hearing.
Wane simply should not have commented, it had nothing to do with him.

Did he play for them? In the back of my mind there's something that says he was a junior coach there, but I think leeds is one of the few Yorkshire teams he didn't play for.

I like Wigan people, salt of the earth most of them along with our other rugby league communities, but Wane carries the big gob northerner mantle way too much, and Im saying this as a lad who grew up in Wigan and have a fair sized gob myself.

I really hope that what he said this week will inspire the Leeds team in the same way as it did when he said that the wigan pack would not be bullied by Warrington again. Best team talk we've had all season.

If you don't like it don't come on here and read em. Simple really. You've been our top of the table rivals two seasons in a row and there are only two other teams as well as us two left playing the sport this season. Plus this Wane-Maguire balls is in the media and is news. There's good reason for plenty of talk about the Pies.

In any case Wane has managed to rub his own fans up the wrong way at some points this season, there are posts on the Wigan forum from their fans complaining about what he says.

I would like coaches to be more controversial, if they think the RFL is bent and the referees are rubbish come out and say it, then instead of getting all high and mighty and fining them, the RFL or referees could just use their right to reply, say the coach is talking rubbish and he should focus on winning matches rather than criticising the refs. I would like this kind of aggressive banter and it would make RL much more interesting.

I've been critical of Wane this season opening his mouth but he simply asked for consistency from the panel. Contact with the head is supposed to be a sending off nowadays and is supposed to carry a ban. Rightly or wrongly he was reminding the panel of this.

Leeds have done their share of bitching as well. Shame really. It's taking the gloss away from what should be a cracking game.

I think shouting your mouth off in RL tends to fire up the opposition, why give a team extra motivation and put unneeded pressure on your own team.

Lowes was an idiot too, regardless of what he may have brought i used to hate seeing his interviews.
He was like some grinning chav who had just won the lottery.

But if Finch makes the same mistake as McGuire tomorrow will he want consistency from the RFL and remind the panel, or will he be consistent himself and repeat his post Catalan display and try to defend his own player no matter how bad it looked?
