| Fozzard is joining Widnes next week 
But that would be a little jump. I expect Leeds will drop the RFL some brown envelopes or he'll possibly enjoy a holiday somewhere like Catalans or Crusaders or even the NRL before taking up a proper deal with Weeds or Warrington next year. |

He's a good player for somebody to pick up, that's for sure.
I'd like to see us get him, I've said this before. It sort of hurts me to say this, but I'd happily see Penny &/or Clarke depart to secure Lee Smith.
As much as I admire both Clarke & Penny in different ways, I struggle to see a future for them long term in our team, I can Lee Smith - he'd add a dimension from fullback, so I'd love to see that happen.

As a question... were would Smith fit in? If at FB then surely that leaves Mathers in the wilderness? Unless an early release for Hicks and one to the wing, with Riley / King... very strong back 3 I must say!

On the basis that he is cheap and doesn't take much room on the salary cap, then yes, why not? He has international experience and is a Harry Sunderland trophy winner.
I know a young player of his calibre might not be at a rock bottom price, but I can't imagine we have much room on the cap left anyway so he would have to be cheap for us to get him.

We have no salary cap to accomadate him,even letting Penny go imo wouldnt be enough to cover his wages.
Smith him self has said he wants to go to Leeds to be nearer his family.
Tony Smith has said the stories linking him are unture.
