He has great pace, evasive ability and footwork, and can make space for his winger but as you say his defence lets him down. Presumably why he was dropped by Burgess after round 8 (or was that another injury?).
He is into his 6th season following debut and has played 38 games. This year is a big one for him to cement a place and a new contract.

In Wrench and Lindop, we have two centres with vast potential. Here's hoping that they can both stay fit and keep progressing, because if they fulfil that potential they could form an outstanding centre partnership for years to come.

The issue with signing Sneyd is that we will have three specialist scrum halves, who have no versatility. If Sneyd came cheap this wouldn't be an issue, but I imagine he'll take up a bit of valuable cap space. I think he'd be a solid addition, and would even go as far as saying I'd have taken Sneyd over Leyland (at the time we signed him) for a year or two while we bring Hayes through. However, we've made our signings, and I was actually quite impressed with Leyland on debut. |
