Cheers UR, on this day in 1588 Robert Dudley, who was in and out of favour with Elizabeth I, died. Dudley once owned Bewsey Old Hall, after Edward Boteler died without an heir, and it passed to Dudley in settlement of Edwards gambling debts. James I stayed at Bewsey Old Hall in 1617, and knighted Thomas Ireland (it's then owner) at that time.
