This is a method of play that aims to gain an advantage. It is dishonest and cheating, however until the referees and assistants get a grip and identify they are being hoodwinked it will carry on. It is the same as the Sam Tomkins, trap the arm and leg in the tackle and feign holding down. Eventually it will get sorted, alas not until after the season is over and the officials have their end of season Kabal.
A lot of games are becoming very boring due to the ineptitude of the officials to recognise blatant cheating. If a players moves off the mark he should be penalised, not told he can't have a penalty because he was moving forward. All we ask is that they apply the existing rules as consistently as they can and recognise cheating when it happens. Otherwise, like lots of others, I will give up attending games and won't watch televised games. I can then cancel my Sky subscription.
The ref stopped the game yesterday in the Widnes v Toronto match because a player had cramp, there was a time he would be made to give it to another player so the match could carry on
