The only plus for the new system is that the play offs become relevant, when everyone played home and away (and yes I am ignoring the magic weekend) then a play off is irrelevant and top team should be champions. I'm still trying to fully grasp how the season will pan out.
I really like the it on the whole, there are just a couple of things which I would change.
In the middle 8 I would just keep it as 1st-4th getting promoted to SL12 for the next season rather than 1st-3rd and a playoff between 4th and 5th, it rewards a team finishing in the bottom half of their "playoff" group when they don't deserve it, but maybe it is being done so that a Championship12 team have a better chance of being promoted to SL12.
Also, the playoffs in the top 8 shouldn't be 1st vs 4th & 2nd v 3rd IMO. I think 1st vs 2nd (winner to Grand Final, loser to playoff) and 3rd vs 4th (winner to playoff, loser out) would be better reward for finishing top, something that we all complain about at the moment, and it would give one of the top 2 teams a week off before the final.
It's completely stupid, but I've pretty much hated the game since we lost to Leeds in 2011 so until we win the Grand Final (never probably) then I don't care what the format is.
