I agree that Tyke deserves a place at Wembley but Coops, Bridgey and Blythe have all made valuable contributions this year. Tykegot a medal in 2009 when it could hardly be said he deserved it!

I think last night's was the team for Wembley, but still one game to come in which all of the challengers can stake a claim.

“There’s a young lad, Tyron McCarthy, who, if it had been totally picked on form, would have been in the squad against Wigan.

“He’s been on fire lately. He’ll play again on Friday and anyone who plays next week will be playing for a position the week after – just like those boys were against Wigan.

“I’ve got some responsibility to give some of those boys an opportunity to play for jerseys.

“They all buy into the rotation but they also want to put their best foot forward to lay stake for a claim on one of those jerseys the following week.[/i

Looks like Mr Smith is going to keep us guessing:

One thing we can be happy about is that Smith will reconsider the selection of that 17 if they show the slightest signs of getting too big for their boots or dropping the pace.

It is a great position we are in now due to strength in depth we have.

I truly believe we can do the double this year as whoever misses the cc final will be fighting for hopefully an old Trafford place and those who play the cc final will fight to keep their place.

I have waited a very long time for this position we are in and long may it continue. I am no longer worried if players get injured as I know whoever steps in is good enough
