My point was, do you understand the point of sport ? In Rugby League's case, it's played by regular blokes, in the main young men with good values and attitudes who turn out and put their bodies on the line, week in week out for your entertainment, for a wage that is fairly basic in terms of sport, it's a short career, and like all of us, they are vulnerable to criticism particularly when unjustified. And I know some of them read this forum.
So if you are a true fan, then people on here should be mindful of the way they comment. Some of the comments are pretty nasty, considering they are of our sporting hero's and our team.
I know a forum is a place where you can anonymously saying anything you wish without fear of a punch in the gob, but at least excersise some restraint in the way you write.
By the way, not cowardice, just a weekend without a computer, absolute bliss !'"
I can understand that players are human (and I voiced my displeasure at the booing of Trent in the early games) but the question still remains, do you think Moz and Peacock are the best available players to choose? If you do, you are certainly entitled to that opinion; it is, however, an extremly unconventional viewpoint. But isn't that the spirit of the messageboard though?
I find the old addage that 'there's no sentimentality in sport' a little cliched. However, Peacock has been quite poor this year (as have many of the other 5 Leeds players chosen for the exiles game). Surely there should be concern when players like Hill and Mossop can't get in at prop and players like Bailey and Peacock are chosen ahead of them?
Furthermore, I am sure that many of the people voicing concern (people like Fatbelly) aren't aiming to insult or harrass players and I'm sure only a small majority would/will boo Peacock when he leads the team out next week. In fact, it is just that many people are uncomfortable with his (and other) selection(s) and are wary of the world cup being next year, with Peacock not looking good enough at the moment.
Sorry Jamie if you're reading this but you probably know it already.
The questioning, by true English fans, of the team selection, and the opinion that players should be chosen on form, is certainly not grounds for you to question the quality of a fan. The old example of Myler in the CC will always be brought up because it clearly made him a better player. Many believe that Peacock is way out of form, and some think he should retire before he goes on to far. I, personally, if forced to make a decision, think he should have been dropped for the Exiles matches. However, there is nothing wrong with voicing that concern on the messageboards and I think many may even voice it in public. Admitedly, the people saying these things aren't Tony Smith but polite discussion sourrounding the subject shouldn't destroy a players confidence, in my opinion.
Any way, back to the point, are Moz and PEacock the first two props on your personal team sheet?
