Quote ="Fearnhead Cross"The idea of having the extra round as the first fixtures is a good one (although it usually isn't the 1st games as the SL champions play a week early), but I seriously question the wisdom of playing them in Cardiff.
Travel will be a nightmare, we will be competing with football & the 6 nations. If the RFL/clubs want a big bang start, why not hold it @ the City of Manchester stadium? Its in the heartlands so easy for people to get to & there is a warm up pitch for the players. Ok it's an open stadium so it will be cold, but you are not telling me that the Millenium stadium will be warm in February?'"
Well the football season is still going so rule out playing 7 games on any football ground, Cardiff is the only stadium what has a roof to keep the rain out.
I don't see the problem with having it in Cardiff, why do people keep going on about the 6 nations? Wales play in Scotland, so when the football world cup was on should we of cancelled the round of fixtures, no because that has nothing to do with rugby league.
When would the ideal time to have it be? summer, well prices will rocket so i'm sure people will moan, September people will still moan. Having at start of the year is a good idea start the league off with a boom that's the idea, will it work? it might if people stop moaning about the weather, you know we do live in England look at the weather we have had through the most of summer.
