Quote ="Dropkick Murphy"I like the Willows and I'll be sorry to see it go but I hope if and when they get this new ground it generates a wider audience for them.
I don't live in Salford but their ground is less than five miles from my house in Manchester and I never see any evidence of any support for them, nor was there any obvious Salford fans on my tram from Old Trafford (via Cornbrook) to the match last night.
I only know one lad at work who supports them and the majority, including people who live in Salford, have no interest at all and just support Man United. It appears to me that most of their fans only come from the community around the ground and nearby rather than across the city (of Salford, nevermind Manchester) with the lure of the biggest sports club in the country (I don't like them but let's face it, they are) only a couple of miles away rendering the rugby club irrelevant in the eyes of most.
Hopefully a shiny new ground in a prime location near the Trafford Centre will encourage a lot more.'"
Another point, in a few years United won't be as good of a team and we might end up getting a few United fans coming to watch us more often.
