Best bets would be to start at Wetherspoons and then wander down along the town. The Imperial is 100 yards on your right from Spoons, The Bradley a further 50 yards on the left. Further down is The Derby and then The Simms Cross. After The Bradley, if you turn right and walk through 'the precinct' you have The Prince Of Wales too.
Time it right and Simmies will be the last pub before you set off past Asda and the Cop shop towards the ground. If you have time there is always Leggies (The Cricketers Arms) right near the ground at the bottom of Lowerhouse Lane.
Starting at the bottom end of town there is The Doctors, BB's and The Cornerhouse Sports Bar. Also quite a few other bars/nightclubs (The Vue, Bar Reef, Rouge Lounge, Rui's and another newish one whose name escapes me, all of whom may or may not be open in the afternoon).
Also on the way down from the station there is The Crown and The Horse & Jockey. The Jockey is a cracking little and I mean little pub but I'm unsure if Wire fans would be welcome after an unfortunate incident last time a few numpties went in there.
So all in all more than enough places within walking distance to the ground to wet your whistles. Have a good day and be good
