A comment made on NRL tonight suggests Bulldogs to release the prop at the end of the current season.

Well that signing would quell any feeling of unease about Chris Hill leaving…and induce paroxysms of rage amongst the self (and currently most inappropriately) titled “entertainers”! If only we weren’t constrained by the Salary cap…

The rumours are he's already got offers from Wests Tigers and North Queensland Cowboys. He's on $900,000 AUD at the moment and is looking for an increase to that. You're talking a £600k contract minimum. I think that's beyond most in Super League. Certainly possible for Warrington, Leeds and Saints but all would struggle with the marquee player bit.

Would be a great signing for any SL club, but I haven’t seen anything to suggest he wants to come back to the UK. He’s going well over there, earning far more money and I’m sure has things to achieve there.

He ain't worth that at all. I have watched him in the NRL and he's just a solid prop.

He has very little impact in the NRL, in some games he has looked completely out of his depth for me, I would be majorly surprised if any other team in the NRL would want him been that the doggies are the worst team in the comp at the moment by a stretch.

That's nonsense. He'd probably be the best prop in Super League if he came back next season. He took a while to adapt as a lot of players do, but he's in good form now, getting widely praised for his recent performances. He did 180m and 10 tackle busts in the NRL the last game I watched and they were raving about him. Barrett said recently he's been outstanding for most of the year and he wishes he had more like him. The Bulldogs are awful, but Thompson is more than capable of being a starting forward for most sides in the NRL and he certainly isn't having little impact.

If the choice was Thompson for 3 years or Hill for 1 I'd take Hill, who IMO is a superior prop forward, even now. He's heavily overrated IMO, a good player but you could get better props than him that would command lesser wages.

He's stay in the NRL, he'll go the cowboys if he has any sense. Bulldogs happy to pay 400k of his contract apparently so it's a win for another club to pick him up. I hope he comes to the Tigers but we've missed the playoffs for like 10 years so the Cowboys would be a safer bet.

Doesn’t need the money though does he given his family’s wealth. It’s all about whether he wants to come back to the UK.
