So, blowing a kiss (that we all saw.....) followed by calling somebody (allegedly) a "f*****g puff" is homophobic?? By the letter-of-the-law I suppose it is, but, and by all means correct me if I speak out of turn here, are we just over-sanitizing the game??

Saying that is homophobic, if a kid were to say that in a schoolyard nowadays they'd be in trouble for it. So as a professional sportsman, who is supposed to be a role model, you'd expect to be disciplined too.

It's the matter of if he said it or not, he could've said something else. Nothing wrong with the blowing a kiss thing on its own, depends on the context.

It's a big IF as well, if someone on the pitch filed a complaint there's a good chance he'll be banned again.

I didnt see at the time who it was directed at, but my first reaction was "for goods sake grow up".
The it dawned on me he used the word puff.....
I must admit that I myself have used that word but it was the late 1970's and I was about eleven years old

I' really am torn on this subject, in this day and age, everything is deemed offensive to somebody, hence why it's only straight, white able-bodied males are the only legitimate targets for poking fun at. IS he prejudiced against homosexuals? No idea, it's a masculine, testosterone-filled sport that he plays, his view on non-masculine males might be that they're 'puffs', 'f*gs' or whatever, terms he could just be using as figures of speech, albeit politically incorrect figures of speech. I think that the bottom line is that you cannot say things like that (if he said it, looks like 'puff' to me, though), not in public and hope to get away with it. The gouging (which i thought was deliberate by the shape of his finger) was far worse than a hurled insult though.

At the end of the day though, we're all just jealous haters, looking for something to have a go at Leeds because they're 6 times Super League champions.

"Political correctness gone mad" - one of the most odious phrases in the world. It's offensive to a minority, ergo it's unacceptable, and there's no place in civilised society for it. It's got bugger all (pardon terminology) to do with masculinity. Time's change. One would *hope* that means we're getting more enlightened...
