Does it all boil down to whether the Council are prepared to cut their losses or continue ploughing in the money, in the faint hope someone will come along and save the day?

If the Council decide they’re not prepared to loan anymore cash, the whole thing could go pop & their previous loans would vanish into the ether.

Think maybe you've hit the nail on the head there. Doubt very much Wilky will walk away from the club without cast iron assurances of it's future. Normal sensible people see that the club has been his life for an awful long time and that he wants to safe guard it's continuing existence..

Further to someone else's comment surround debts to Wilky again I doubt very much he'll be calling those in as again he knows to do so would scupper any deal.

Most of what people write is in the public domain either in the MEN or as is this mornings case the Salford Star courtesy of a leaked letter from companies house.

Non of which makes pleasant reading for any Salford fan I guess. Fact is they are in a mess and it's fair to say that will bring about all sorts of opinion.

I agree,questions are now being asked by the press and the Salford public,who want to know how much,why and when is it going to be paid back.When its all said and done its the Salford folk who,it seems,have been keeping this club afloat. Apparently its in the millions,yes i`m a rugby league fan and always will be,but i am also a Salford council tax payer to and always will be.So the crap is going to gather momentum until somebody,be it a club official or a rep from S.C.C or even the bleeding R.F.L,makes a statement,as we are all aware,S.C.R come along way down peoples priorities in this City when it comes to support,so when they get wind of how much money as been loaned,with very little chance of it being repaid,of course they are going to ask questions. Schools,jobs,roads,the elderly,the infirm,policeing,care in the community,building of council homes,etc etc.Yet there is still fools on here who would prefer our money spent on their pass time,sorry,let the s/it stirring continue until the truth is forced out,and maybe,just maybe then,what ever division the club finds itself in,we can get on with watching the greatest game of all,and more important,supporting Salford again.

How could he have when the whole deal hinged on houses being built and land values, the first of which ain't been built and the second, values have reduced significantly.

Did anyone really think that Peel/The Council ever had a burning desire to own a rugby league club? Seriously?

If we accept,from the press reports and Twitter feeds,that the 2 parties involved are the only ones concerned,it may be the case that because of the financial maze created by loans and guarantees that the 2 named parties are the only people able to be involved at this initial stage and so any outsider investment is neither wanted or accepted until the current parties resolve their differences.

There was a posting some time ago stating that Peel would take over with the priority of finding an investor.
Since then I have read the Mayor was seeking an investor.
The guy O'Connor,now at Widnes,was a Liverpool FC season ticket holder before he took over and the guy at Wakefield was a shirt sponsor and season ticket holder at Huddersfield FC.
Timing is important...and the opportunity to take-over.......which may not be the case at the moment.

I would presume it will be all day as the public are going to put spanner in works and to be honest. You cant blame them. The club as acted shameful. In this building everyones hopes up to find we had the wool pulled over are eyes with a loan and who is it going to pay for thiz us hard working people of salford. In my opinion no one wants us and its just a matter of time. How salford board can think this is good idea shows what brains sits on the board. And the reason the fans dont go is cost of game the move from willows. It says it all when they give free tickets out and still cant get fans. This will cause so much unrest is it worth it. Also all the promises of are club are never kept 1)no one ever recieved turf promised 2)promised are own stadium. Whats next a faulse hope of a buyer. This is why i aint intrest and many more will when we have to pay over the odds to watch crap to pay a loan which i dont think will last a year.

It is totally unfair to slag someone off as Eccles Star has been just because his post is gramatically flawed. The fact is he is clearly passionate about Salford and is doing no more than pointing out how badly let down he feels and probably rightly so.

Having views are one thing, spouting vitriol at the club at every opportunity is another. I can't remember reading one constructive post from the likes of ES, PT, MM, LT etc its just post after post of negativity. I'm fully aware the club are in dire straits and have encountered first hand some of the ineptitude that exists within the club but the fact is without John Wilky we'd have gone to the wall decades ago. Our fan base is divided between probably some of the best and most loyal fans in RL and the worst fans in RL (yes that includes the Hull clubs!). What is needed at the moment is action and positive action and the fans need to drive it, the bitching can wait until we have no club to support.

Like MR said, there's a few tedious people who basically just turn out the same post for everything. A bit like a forum version of Status Quo. You're not really missing any deep, meaningful, or genuinely interesting argument as you know before you've read it that it's the same one again and again.

It's not a case of 'Not wanting to hear the truth' counter argument that always gets brought up in some format as we can all see all the bad things happening to the Club. It's just the fact that, even though entitled to your own opinions, going on and on about the same thing is tedious.

It's not actually a public, open, council meeting is it? The people of Salford voted to give the major the power to make decisions, rather than have the full council of elected members meet to decide.

I've not posted this forum for sometime but even I as one of our more positive of fan is fretting. What's worrying me is the time this take over bid is taking. With the season due to start in six or so weeks it seems inconceivable that we haven't yet seen the take over resolved- why? what possible miracle worker can purchase the players required and train a complete squad such a short time? surely JW and peel must see that as the weeks go by, our chances of competing are diminishing, fans are rightly becoming anxious. Worrying times indeed....

Hate to say I told you so but... this outcome was always going to be the case in the current climate.

Hope Salford come out the other side of this, be it with a knight in shining armour or in the championship as a newco. It is now not only a matter of money but time as well, the clock is ticking to the start of the season and some difficult decisions need making pdq. I expect some of your more valuble players will be offered around to the highest bidder to give a little extra time to find a buyer, otherwise they will go for next to nothing anyway if the club enters adminisration. I have a feeling that the RFL will handle this more like the Wakefield way rather than the Bradford one so the board needs to buy as much time as possible and hope for the best.
