| Quote ="John Gilbert Reds"I disagree with most of what’s being said on here. Harsh to critique Harris’ tactics when we continually knocked on, gave away penalties and generally did not complete our sets. I couldn’t even see what our tactics were because we didn’t have anywhere near enough of the ball. A very disappointing night which could and should have been very different, I hope the players are hurting because that was a disaster from them last night.'"
No one can blame Harris last night we were just shocking, maybe that's credit too Wigan who got in our faces. There defence was amazing just shows you if you have fire in the belly you'll get rewarded.

| I watched the game last night and for me it showed a total lack of plan B, we obviously went out onto the paddock intent of out muscling Wigan and they were waiting for it.
This talk about the officials is getting a little tiring, the refs are what they are, e, sure they missed things but the more our sports speeds up the more they will miss.
SKY identified it before the game but MCB looks like he will be targeted, I just hope that in the off season the main focus of the club is too help him bulk up as he does look lightweight.
MOM for Salford by a country mile was Theo, at one point they mentioned that he had made 30+ tackles as a half, brings credence to my notion that he will become a good interchange hooker, good tackler and elusive scooting runs from the dummy half.
Much as he is the player I like too watch most in the current team Sa'u needs the bollocking of a life time for developing Littleresque sticky hands, it might have made the difference to level the scores up in the lead up too half time.
Also we the Red Devils, therefore when there is no shirt clash we should play in our traditional colour of red, I think it is a brilliant idea to have the 2nd jersey in the Docs racing colours but that should not mean we wear them except when the opposition jersey dictates.

| I said this last night about Theo he will be our interchange hooker next year that i'm pretty confident about. I think Lee will be our main hooker unless we've still got room in the cap for a big signing hooker.

| Last nights performance has undone a lot a good work over the past few weeks. Taking nothing away from the wounded animal of Wigan we were awful and progressively got worse during the match. I think it shows that we are some distance away from competing against an extra motivated top side that turn up really hungry. It seemed to me that the confidence and belief drained from our players when we went 10 points behind.
I also felt the game highlighted that some of our senior players were found wanting and unable to backup the intensity of last week’s performance despite a full 7 day break. I think this will have highlighted to Harris that he needs a couple of younger and hungrier reinforcements going forward. (Players that are consistant and can be relied upon week after week against tough opposition)
I think it’s unlikely we have any chance of a play-off spot now but I think it’s extremely important we get back on the horse and finish the year on a positive with as many wins as possible. The club desperately needs to finish the year with some momentum rather than switching off and losing focus.

I remember thinking when I saw Morley come on and get dragged around like a rag doll that this will help him make his mind up to call it a day at the end of the day, I just hope the rumours of Dudson coming are true and that we can do what Wigan have done over the past few seasons and bought in some very young front rowers.

| I thought you were harshly treated in the first half. The SOL slide tackle just prior to there (2nd??) try, followed by Dudson knocking on in the build up to the 3rd put you behind the 8 ball. Those 2 things get picked up and Sau remembers to pass and at half time its a different game. But then I suppose if my auntie had boll............... and all that.
Not saying the result would have been any different, but the scoreline could have been much closer.
As a Wakey fan, for many years i saw us compete at a similar level. I hope (and think) next year you will smash the 8 and then regularly compete for the top 4 in the years after. It gives us all a bit of hope after years of watching what can only be described as mediocre rugby league.

| The main reason for last night's result can be summarised in one word - BRADFORD. Whoever Wigan had played after that poor performance were going to see a Wigan backlash.
It will take time for Harris to create a consistent top team at Salford but I am sure he will do it. He has clearly taken many of the systems and structures from his Wigan experience. The difference is that Wigan execute them better because they been doing these things for years. To perform at the top level all the players have to develop good habits which takes time. I am sure that Salford will be a top 8 team in 2015 but it may take a while longer to become a top 4 team.

I hope the rumours of Dudson are true as well. He's little more than a lump of a liability. He showed early promise but hasn't kicked on. He may well be a late bloomer but I doubt it.

| I've waited 27 yrs to see us win again at Wigan , I can wait a year more.
In some ways to quote Tony Smith , ' you learn more about a team with a loss'.
It was plain we still looked physically drained from the Leeds game, and we struggle to maintain the intensity needed to match or overcome a ' top ' side week in week out.
Tasi especially looked like he still hadn't recovered from his illness.
now all the talk of top 8 is behind us Tomkins shouldn't be called on again , we should give Owen the last 4 games.
our right side defence was targeted - Fages,Caton-Brown was 62 tackles between them. to give credit they only missed 4 , however the rest of the team missed 30 ( 10% of all tackles made ).

Can't see how Dudson could come to Salford , your chairman/owner has spent his full whack and has had to let some good young talent leave at the end of the season because he isn't allowed to spend anymore, i think he realises he has messed up because the player(s) who are leaving were part of Iestyn's long term plans, for those who think this is nonsense just wait a few weeks then you'll see this is a genuine post.

| We'll be OK next time we visit the Pie Dome with Dobbo, BJB, Locke, Hock & more.
Winning the last 4 though could still put the cat amongst the pigeons. Stranger things have happened.

I actually read it as a backhanded compliment, as many on this Forum often ridicule dissenting comment from visitors as trolling when it might just be an opposing view. Threads often contain posts along the lines of "await the usual nonsense from"......usually either Castleford, or Warrington Fans...
There's a definite siege mentality which can be a healthy motivator, however it's bordering on quite a few playing the 'always the victim' card. Conspiracy theories abound, because of their owners outspoken views, the RFL are out to do them down, everyone's jealous etc which I think is tedious at best and stifles real debate.
No doubt there is some terrible trolling on here as there is on most boards, perhaps the best way to deal with it is to ignore it rather than almost invite it?
BTW I'm not trolling or inviting it either. There are quite a few posters that I actually enjoy reading and as a fan of the previous Dad's Army Salary Cap Dodging team, then things should improve if you can build on this year and particularly the recent improvement in form and people look beyond twitter and sound bites.

I see it as a 'coming-of-age' of Salford fans.
Other fans generally left us alone because, let's face it, we just made up the numbers year on year. Most of the Salford posters that went through all these years on RLFans were always pretty rational realists, and I do think most of the regular Salford contributors on here (Old and new) represent a fairly high percentage of sensible posters on RLFans in general.
I think we're going through the fans equivalence of puberty.
The Club is slowly dragging itself into being a competitive side, and now fans of other Clubs take more interest in our comings and goings. For good and bad. As fans, we lack experience of the bombardment of exposure we've generated in 18 months, and we've automatically gone on the defensive. We'll learn from our mistakes, and learn to adapt. For me, it's a positive sign we're going in the right direction.

Spot on Butcher and the end game of course is to get to a situation where you get beyond defensive and really start enjoying the rugby as well as the ride and consign your recent past into the filing cabinet marked history along with phrases such as well this time last year and if it wasn't for the Doc we'd be finished....
That's not say you should forget that part of your club as it's character building and will ensure that when success does arrive then it will be all the sweeter
Not that it ever bothered us, but, I quite like the fact that we can sing "we're not W...ky anymore" and I enjoy that positive outlook that we've now got (apart from the recent result against Widnes, my personal nightmare) that it is "always our year" even though it always isn't.
You'll get there IMO and judging by the reaction to your owners latest Radio Yorkshire interview (I didn't hear it), but it seems that he is taking this club building malarkey a little bit more realistically? Things should simmer down
