| If the stadium dosent get the go ahead i see no reason why Super League would want to keep us. That begs the question as to would SL have any recourse to cancel our franchise early if it became obvious we were not able to fulfill the promises we made in our application. Pessemistic as i am normally i find myself even more in despair than usual tonight.

| I think you raise a good point and tbh we may be better off being put out of our misery sooner rather than later if the staduim dos`nt come off.An awful thought but thats the way it is with me at the moment.

| Quote ="SRLFC JK"I cannot believe there is no plan B.
The chances of the stadium being built on the scale it was originally planned was always unlikley.
Perhaps if they hadn't been over ambitious we would have had a small box-like stadium that shared a car park with a supermarket by now.
TBH some people have never got to grips with the fact that Salford is a small club with a really poor support. I admire JW for him efforts to try to create something bigger, but perhaps he was more concerned with his own legacy to the club rather than what it really needs.
It's disappointing, but there should be a plan B as the people involved would have known for some time that this was likely to happen.'"

| planned stadium and college development in Greater Manchester has been cast in to doubt as a result of the ongoing funding problems with the Learning and Skills Council's stricken Building Colleges for the Future scheme.
The proposed scheme would have housed the new Salford City College campus and the new stadium for Rugby League team Salford City Reds.
But the college – an amalgamation of three existing Salford further education colleges and a key partner in the project – may have to pull out if it does not receive funding from the LSC.
The Building Colleges for the Future Programme, which was originally worth £2.3 billion in 2008-11/09, was hit by a funding crisis after the Learning and Skills Council over-pledged its budget by £5.7 billion.
In last week’s Budget the chancellor announced £300 million of extra funding for the initiative.
The LSC is currently reassessing the national projects that they can deliver and the criteria on which the funding can be released.
Reds chief executive David Tarry said: :1rlgb0bkThe stadium will happen and if Peel Holdings, along with a landmark site that already has planning permission for stadium and retail use.
Salford-born communities secretary Hazel Blears names the Reds as her favourite sports team. In her school days she attended Eccles college, one of the further education bodies being merged into the new super college.

| "Those colleges who can go ahead with their projects are: Barnsley College, Bournville College, Furness College, Hartlepool College of Further Education, Kirklees College, Leyton Sixth Form College, Manchester College - Wythenshawe, North West Kent College, St Helens College, Sandwell College, South Thames College, Tresham Institute of Further and Higher Education, Corby, and West Cheshire College.
The LSC said it had selected for approval the projects which would have the biggest impact for learners, employers and communities, as well as considering the current condition of the college's buildings and any impact on associated projects. "
BBC news. Some of these colleges were in the middle of redevelopment anyway and would have gone bust if not saved.
Can someone confirm that we cannot bid for next year?

We could've been in a Halliwell Jones style stadium by now but instead decided to persist with the ambitious iconic design despite the numerous setbacks.

| This signals the DEATH of the Salford RLFC!!!!!!!
No stadium means no franchise next time round. No franchise means ever dwindling crowds to swinton like proportions and eventually going out of business. Somebody said put it all on hold til the economic crisis is over. When might that be?
JW has been promising us big things since 1984 and not one of them has been delivered. Before everyone jumps on me and says he's ploughed money into the club, I KNOW HE HAS!!!!
However, when you analyse it the club is no better off now than when he took over.
Back then we were in serious danger of going out of busness until the fans were asked again and again to put their hands in their pockets to bail us out. I did a sponsored up and under on the pitch at half time of one game, aged 10 years!
25 years on and we stand at the point where unless we desperately find funding we will go out of business through the lack of top flight rugby.
Into the bargain it's 25 years where the only glory we have had has been 2nd divison trophies and the distinction of knocking Wigan out of the cup for the first time in 8 years; a cup we subsequently didn't win!!!!
FED UP WITH YOUR PROMISES. JW COULD EASILY BE AN MP- HE HAS BEEN MAKING FALSE CLAIMS FOR 25 YEARS!!!!
Right go on then all have your go at me. Call me what you want. Jump to JW's defence again. Writing this breaks my heart but THE TRUTH HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| So Wakefield are OK because their stadium is tied in with the development of the college. I feared Salford might get overlooked due to Bolton and now Manchester being approved thats two large campuses in Greater manchester, three if you include Leigh's sporting village.
Now its gone quite on the casino front nationwide why don't we try and sneak that in again, or Peel build it and us revenue from Port Salford?

As for you Star Bug why don't you go to your new stadium and watch a team that's even worse than ours.
When you've listened to the same cr*p for so long it wears a bit thin. If voicing my opinion is being a nutter then show me the funny farm. Is that left at Hilton Park and keep going til you reach never land?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the past 25 years, every stand has been refurbished and the northeast corner has been re-terraced. I think there are plenty of grounds about that would have loved as much attention as the Willows has had.

1. Perhaps it's the Coach who decides what players to buy? After all, he is in charge of the playing staff. Then there's the salary cap problems. Then there's the problem of actually getting 'better' players to come to Salford. Why come here when they can go to Saints or Leeds?
2. I wasn't aware the ground was so run down. Are you sure you're mixing up 'run down' with 'old'? Also, the Shed roof was repaired at great expense not so long ago. Or did you miss that? Not to mention the other renovations that have taken place over the years.
3. Whilst that is a fair point, I guess he wasn't expecting the current global recession (none of us where, were we?) which has f*cked up the stadium bid since it kicked in.
4. See the answer to number three. Except for the fair point bit, you're talking nonsense now. Bigpev's put a post up elsewhere highlighting the difficulties that we've faced in the whole stadium saga, difficulties that were not the fault of JW, nor could he, or any of us, have seen them coming.

And as far as ' our new stadium ' is concerned , you are welcome to come and play there , it might well be the worst thing ever to happen to our club
It isn't ' ours ' , it is a council ' facility ' , which is exactly what John Wilkinson probably knows is not ideal for any club to progress in , which is the reason he has tried to get Salford something better
If you end up with a situation like Leigh you will end up outside SL struggling to make ends meet
