Potentially not voting could change things dramatically. Your average joe public who votes for one of the main parties may think why bother and join the masses who cant be bothered voting anyway. People who have extreme opinions will jump on the NBP/UKIP bandwagon and where will that get us. I was having a conversation with somebody I know last week who has voted Labour for 50 years. I used to think even if Labour created WWIII they would still get their vote. However for various reasons and particularly on immigration they have switched to BNP
In my opinion if you want to show your disapproval, vote for something different the =greenGREEN party. First time they have received my vote today.

Well I changed my mind yet again and voted UKIP having spoken to a mate of mine who works in the Fish Trade. He told me that the UK fishermen cannot fish in our own waters to substantial effect - the Spaniards, and the rest can of course - even 5 miles from Whitby but the UK restrictions are just Draconian and our own Industry is on the point of collapse. Much the same in Agriculture. Strange you never get to hear about these situations in the news - its all `spun` nowadays.

Did you check whether that was fact? I'm not calling your acquaintance a liar but there's a hell of a lot of misinformation about regarding regulations (trust me, I work in health & safety - I've had people claim to me that Europe has banned ladders).

UKIP biggest fiddlers of the lot of them in Europe, these tales about fishing rights are pure spin, what we should do is remove the quota altogether let all fish to their hearts content and then next year when there are no stocks left listen to the Fishing trade moan.
Agriculture, remember foot and mouth a couple of years back started in the North East next turned up in South Wales, rogue farmers running the same flock of sheep round the country to claim various European subsidies.
Like now nothing in the news about petrol being a £1 a litre the last time it was this dear Oil was $147 a barrel, now Oil is $68 a barrel, so Oil companies know that the press have other fish (pun) to fry and they can put the price up with no apparent public outcry its called profiteering.

As I was saying.
The low turnout means that despite 97% of the electorate not voting for them, the BNP now have 12% of the region's representation in Europe. All them protest votes worked a treat.

| Back on Hazel, Sandi Toksvig described her as a "feral Krankie" on the Radio 4 News podcast quiz thingy.
(I know it's Radio 4 but there is quite a lot of funny stuff on the quiz podcast)

| Think Hazel was trying to eat a very large slice of humble pie in yesterday's interveiws.
As one of the area's M.P's is losing his seat because of boundery changes & we will have 2 instead of 3 in this area, Barbara Keeley thouroughly deserves to keep her seat, but with what has happened with Hazel Blears, I think she should be de-selected & Ian Stewart should have the nomination for the vacant seat. He is not my M.P. but what I have seen of him, he would get my vote.
Always found him to be very aproachable to chat to about concerns & he has always sent an answer or pointed me in the right direction, as already said, & he is not my MP.
Hazel appears to have realised how much damage SHE has done to HERSELF by the response she received when back in her party office in Salford.
Hazel should have had the thoughts she is having now prior to her recent behaviour.

| According to GMR last night they are expecting a vote of no confidence in her from the Constituency at its forthcoming meeting.
Methinks she may well be out of a job very shortly.
Difficult to argue that she hasn't brought it all on herself.

Crunch time for Blears:
Quote ="Salford Star"This Thursday night (June 18th) Hazel Blears faces a vote of no confidence from branches of Salford’s Labour Party. 44 representatives will decide whether she gets de-selected as a candidate at next year’s General Election...
So to help the 44 make up their minds, the Hazel Must Go! Campaign has called a demonstration outside the Salford Civic Centre in Swinton for 6pm. It’s not aligned to any political party and everyone and anyone in Salford is urged to attend – bring your own placards and banners, the national press will be there...
Also on Thursday morning (June 18th) there will be a petition signing event on Salford Precinct (near Tesco’s) between 10am and 12 noon.'"

| I predict she won't be deselected.
44 delegates? I reckon the result will be 15-27, with two not turning up.
Fancy a sweepstake? Has the game started yet?

Good call; [url=http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article6532009.eceshe survived[/url deselection.
Also, it’s interesting to see that the MPs expense claims have been officially released... with huge bits blacked out. So if it wasn’t for the whistleblower, in the end, we wouldn’t have known about ’flipping’ homes and the like.

| Just to make it 100 posts for this topic:
Three surgeons are discussing who were the best patients to operate on.
The first surgeon says, 'I like to see electricians. Everything inside them is colour-coded.'
The second surgeon says, 'You know, I like builders. They understand when you have a few parts left over at the end, and when the job takes longer than you said it would.'
But the third surgeon observed, 'You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine, and there are only two moving parts - the mouth and the r. sole- and they're interchangeable.
Thanks to Mr Platt on the Lancashire Fusiliers website.

| Went to the Salford do last night & the Chairman spoke positively about Barton.
Hazel Blears was asked to make the Raffle draw and had - shall we say - a mixed reception from the audience.

| but she didn't draw out my two entries, anyway you don't enter a raffle to win you enter to help a good cause.
Looking around last night I reckon there were many tory voters in the room which would account for some of the booing she received.
