When bringing up the Quota/Non Fed Trained Issue it's not bringing down what has been a remarkable amount of good news for not only Salford, but RL in general, but a concern that you have made 6 signings that would qualify on the overseas quota/non Fed Trained and are in breach of a rule that all Super League clubs agreed to and are bound by.
If Chase is exempt from the Quota/Non Fed Trained list of players then it's a massive plus.

| Team looks something like this to me:
1 Jake Mullaney
2 Francis Meli
3 Martin Gleeson
4 Junior Sa'u
5 Greg Johnson
6 Rangi Chase
7 Tim Smith
8 Adrian Morley
9 Tommy Lee
10 Darrell Griffin
11 Gareth Hock
12 Steve Rapira
13 Tony Pulatua
14 Theo Fages
15 Jake Emmitt
16 Andrew Dixon
17 Matty Ashurst
18 John Walton
Is Jodie Broughton or Stephen Wild staying?
I think I'd add a bit of front row talent to finish this off. Depends whether Hock and Pulatua are seen as front rowers

| Stephen Wild is apparently staying so he'll be 13, Shannon McPherson will be one of the starting props or at least on the bench.
Rapira will play prop with Puletua in the back row.

| Hasn't Chase married his English girlfriend?
Therefore no visa problem though his Fed - Non Fed status is not clear with us.
To announce him Salford must have registered him with the RFL so his Fed - Non Fed status must be OK with them.

| Anyone from Widnes care to comment on who you want to play against at the Etihad in 2014? .......
Oooh no, on second thoughts, after the way we played against them this year , they'll probably want to play Wire !!!

Best guess...
5 Non-fed - Chase, Puletua, Sa'u, Rapira, Mullaney.
Exempt - Meli (joined Saints in 2006), Smith (played for Wigan in 2008, so maybe qulaifies for the same exemption as Aaron Heremaia and Michael Dobson).
edit - Looking back, Smith only joined Wigan mid-way through 2008, so it'd actually be an extension of that dispensation. The cut off was meant to be the start of the 2008 season. Dobson played in SL in 2006, Heremaia in the National league in 2006/7

| Wow. What a day. I'm throwing a boner so big I've not got enough skin left to blink.
What a turn round from December and that bleak meeting at Pendleton Church. And there's "more to come".
Quite enjoyed the ...erm... 'challenge' to Richard Agar. And to the people who can't pronounce his name ("NoCash, "CashCow"icon_wink.gif. Brilliant. I guess "irrepressible" is the word to describe him.

| 3 things missing so far:
1, A decent coach. I don't rate Noble one bit, he had everything at his disposal with Wigan and what did he archive? As soon as he left Maguire took over and made Wigan into a trophy winning squad.
2, A Leader. Good pair of halves yes. Leaders? No! Thats why captaincy hasnt been with them both this season. Where is the ball playing Sinfield, O'Loughlin, Briers,Holdsworth to lead them around the field? For me Chase and Smith are brilliant individuals but are too alike, its rather one or the other, not both. Morley will lead with his actions but not a rugby football brain like the others mentioned.
3, Depth. Injuries hit and as it stands you'll be outside the playoffs.

Im really not. Koukash is great for the game. I'm a rugby league fan, not just a Rhinos fan. Learn to take a hint of constructive criticism please.
As a Rhinos fan my team is the leading team on and off the field and Salford have got at least a decade to go until they match us as an overall organisation so I'm far from Jealous. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Salford shape up next year, I apologise If I can see some weaknesses. Perhaps you can counter my comments with some Rugby League knowledge of why im wrong?

Interesting,Smith and Chase cant lead a team around a field,Morley has no brain and isnt a leader,Nobles a crap coach and OLoughlin is a ball player in the mould of Briers Sinfield and Holdsworth.
All this negativity reminds me of a certain Alan Hansen who once famously said "You dont win anything with kids" and we all know how that expert piece of punditry ended.

I was joking mate, I've just seen a lot of Salford fans lately not willing to take criticism & using the jealous argument. Just thought I'd get in on it before anybody else did. FWIW I agree with what you originally said.

He didn't do too badly at Bradford, and he completely transformed Crusaders. We've seen his influence at Salford, because we've been a far better team since he took over. But Marwan's a direct kind of guy. If he thinks Brian Noble isn't doing the job, he'll be replaced.

Other people think Smith and Chase complement each other. It remains to be seen, but I suspect Tim Smith will be the player who will lead them around the field.

These twelve signings will be joining the, as yet unspecified, members of the current squad who are being retained. I don't think strength in depth will be a problem. And there may be more signings to come.

Smith and Chase are nothing alike. You clearly don't watch them.
Smith organises the team and can pass a ball long or short as good as anyone I've seen. He isn't really a runner though he isn't slow. He can't tackle. Good short kicking game average long kicking game
Chase is a runner who picks a pass if it is on. He is an exceptionally evasive runner. He can tackle and has a kicking game though doesn't really use it.

Well i respect your opinion but we obviously watch a different game so lets agree to differ.BTW you are underestimating some of our academy players and the other 13 guys who will make the 25 man squad. All will be revealed in 2014.
