Probably. He's been average this season imo.

Personally i think it will be a more of a statement of intent from the club on where we are going in the future, i hope we retain Mylers future at the right price, given the time and the money he could easily be the next "Alker" and build the team around him.

The "Alker, Littler, Fitzpatrick, Highto" Generation is coming to a natural end and should be broken up to allow the new generation to come through.
With the other young stars signed the likes of Turner, rachford and Adamson add some good quality senior professionals to carry them though their development this generation could be on for somthing big which has never been done before.

I feel this generation of young players are head and shoulders above anything we have produced since ive been watching salford and i hope they are allowed to reach their potential wearing the red shirt of salford.

i'm sure we'll be saving quiet a bit on the cap with stapo and paul leaving. White and Nash should be offered reduced contracts. Fitzy and littler should be released. What worries me though is the lack of young talent coming through! When is another ratchford, turner or adamson going to come through? i dont watch much reserve or acadamy games but i've been told there isn't much there!

To be fair what salford as a squad of players need now is a better quality of senior pro's which will take the team and our young players to the next level, im not saying the players we have now are below the standard required for superleague as they prove they are not.

Say your rate a player from 1 to 10 its better to have a Average 7 than a ok 6 because when it comes down to consitancy the average 7 can turn into a 8 or 9 if in form but still pull out a Average 7 week in week out performance.

A ok 6 on a good day can go 7 or 8 at a push but will put in a Average week in week out will stay round 6, 6/10 isnt going to win you them crutial games and move us on.

Personaly over the years we've had too many average / good 6/10 performers in the red shirt, this year we have signed very well imo and id put the players in the squad as a whole as a good 7 which is why we are moving forward at the moment.

I'd be amazed if he went to Wire, unless he sees Wire as a stepping stone before moving to a big club

I think warrington will be a big club soon with tony smith, so thats the reason why he might of gone, but i hope he hasnt.

If I had a quid for every groundless rumour I'd heard about Warrington Wolves I'd have enough money to sign Myler myself. I can't imagine it's anywhere near a done deal if Offiah confirming he is due to meet Simms and John Wilkinson today. On that basis, as the club in possession, the ball is very much in Salford's court. I agree with the post about Offiah being unprofessional - no need to throw comments like that about in the media.

You should also be aware that there are some world class rumour mongers on our board - it'll be fun whatever happens with Myler. If we do sign him we've acquired an excellent player with great potential. If he doesn't, there's a few Wire Forumistas who are going to look like bigger nobs than they normally do.

As all this is pure speculation , I have tried to remain objective on this subject , however a few points need addressing.

Myler He is contracted until the end of the 2010 Season , if he leaves us after then ( or Salford release him from his contract before ) . I will be thankful I have seen him play in the Famous Red Shirt of the Salford Rugby League Club, He is a prodigious talent and I'm sure whatever the outcome of any talks between his agent ( more of him later..) he will conduct himself as he has done since he arrived , a model young professional. If he leaves I will be disappointed surely , I won't suddenly hate him. I'll think of how all the Widnes fans must have felt seeing one of their brightest prospects leave them for Salford in the first place .

Tony Smith, If speculation is proven correct and he ends up at Wire, I am concerned Tony Smith ( as both Club & National Coach ) abusing his priviledge to ' tap - up ' the brightest propects of perceived smaller clubs, or is it just co-incidence , just like Coley on Noble's 2006 tri-nations?

The Agent @ pleades with Salford to make Myler the best paid player = best paid agent , bet that never entered his mind , he's thinking soley of his clients best interests, including his ability to grow in stature & experience without too much pressure , not touting him 'round the league in order to bloster his reputation as an agent who can get players more money to build his portfolio in the process.

That's why I said reasonable steps. We have to keep hold of the talent, but as a club we can not afford to pay them all £100, 000+ if we operate on 1.2m. We need balance and I would rather have young homegrown talent than some of the overseas players of the past.

Offiah should not be conducting business in the papers, unprofessional. Having said that we are talking about the MEN so it is difficult to judge exactly what has been said.

Whilst I agree with your points about Myler and Smith I have to disagree with you about Offiah. As has been said he is and will behave like any other agent - a mercenery bar steward who will do what he can to increase his cut. Agents are what is wrong with sport across the world. encouraging players to hold their clubs to ransom in order to line their own pockets. Too many players get abused after they leave a club and most of it should be aimed at the agent.
