I'd give Malcolm a call also, to do the gameplan.

| Can't believe people on twitter want alker to be the next coach! Give me a break! Hopefully the culture of jobs for the boys has gone! We need a complete change in back room staff IMO! I was in the gym on Friday a couple of hours before the game and jewitt and Nero were supposedly being put through their paces! The guy looking after them wasn't saying you need to do so many sets etc but saying you can either do 7 or 10! It's up to you! I was listening in disbelief! Oh course they chose 7! Bloody push them and make them do 10! Not professional enough at all levels our club like it's not been for years!

Or last year. But the pertinent question is does he have the credentials to win trophies when given the resources to do so? I guess we'll never know. However, there are plenty of coaches who have achieved when give resources and are therefore surely less of a gamble.

I suspect Marwan, Ed (Farrish) and Graham (Lowe) are the only people able to answer that for you. Like you, we'll have to wait and see.

| I am disappointed for Phil and thought he might have been given at least the season to do a job, but at the same time, most people would probably admit he's not the man to take us forward in the long run if we truly want to become contenders.
It makes a change to see the club being the ones who are ruthless. There was no loyalty from the players who jumped ship last season. They were doing what was best for themselves and now hopefully bringing in a new guy is what is best for the club.

| Veivers had earnt more of a shot than he has been given - at least until midway through the season. Very disappointing behaviour from Koukash for mine. This along with a few other brash comments that have been attributed to him make me very nervous.

Agreed but only to a point. There's a danger that every time something isn't quite working the powers will naively swing the axe thinking it'll improve the situation. Of course we have no evidence they will and I trust them, based on their history and prestige to make the correct decisions. Today's decision however, as I understand it is motivated by a business plan that seeks to overhaul almost everything about the club. A top class coach, no matter how much our competitors dislike it, is part of this plan.
Regardless, I'm elated that we've lost the title of 'Salford's my 2nd team' who seemingly everyone used to have a soft spot for. Get in ruthless reds!

Are you sure? Although I don't think John is of the calibre some seem to think. He's had a mixed time at the Gold Coast thus far, although I anticipate he'll be a great coach one day.

| I don't see it as overly ruthless. The new management came in with a plan and I'm sure a top class coach was part of that. They've made no bones about the fact that if anyone does not shape-up to what they want to do they'll be replaced. I don't see it as a knee-jerk reaction, I see it as an inevitability. They would have seemed overly harsh binning PV straight away, and he's had five games to stake his claim. Not long, I'll grant you but certainly long enough to make some progress, which didn't really happen. They are faced with getting a replacement early in the season or halfway through? I just see this sacking as a continuation of wiping the slate clean and bringing in their own people that has happened throughout the Club.
We'll settle down when they are happy, and it's pretty invigorating to be involved in a Club that isn't afraid to make hard decisions. If anyone doubts that they want anything but the best to push the Club forward, they are surely enlightened now.

If this was the plan then I am left to ask the questions 1) Why was Veivers given 5 games ? ( He managed to coach a side to victory against Hull Kr last week which is something Tony Smith failed to do today )
2) Why has Ed Farish gone on record at suggesting it was because of results ?
3) As most successful head coaches are contracted to clubs how does the club hope to persuade someone to leave that position to join Salford ? If it is for financial reward would it not be better to spend that money on players.
4) What conversation took place between Phil Veivers and the management team prior to the season starting ?
Was he warned his position was under threat from the start of the season ?
5) Does the club have a particular coach in mind or will it now just be a search for whoever is willing to on the job ?
6) Has a coach they have in mind intimated that he is willing to take on the position on a certain date ?
7) When Phil Veivers was in need of players,is it not putting the cart before the horse to put the new coach as a priority when the sacked coach wasn't given either time or resources ?
If the results have been sufficient to justify the sacking what is to be expected from those holding the reins before 'top class coach' takes over ?

| On a personal level I am sorry for Veivers. He managed to hold the squad together during difficult times.
However I believe this is the correct call. His decision making in recent weeks seems poor. Until last week we hadn't won a game since July last year. Comparing him to other rubbish coaches doesn't make him good.
Look at Friday night, OK Broughton didn't make the game but why play Foran as part of an untested paring? Why not leave Mcgoldrick at half back for the first period to give Foran a chance to get into the game. Why continue to play a player so low in Murphy?
I would imagine Lowe arriving and watching the coaching has told Koukash all he needs to know.

| What about Justin Morgan! He's waiting for a new club and only helping out Daniel Anderson with the referees gig in Australia Look at what he did at Hull KR with limited funds - imagine what he could do with a cashed up owner who's willing to spend to win. And Morgan needs no visa - he's got ancestry The fact that Morgan part owned a race horse whilst at KR shows another mutual interest between him and Dr Koukash. It could be a thrilling relationship. They both appear to be flamboyant characters.

| Good god no, Davey999 - just because someone did OK on a budget doesn't mean they'd actually know how to manage some stars - and by all that we hear, that's what we are going to get.
We need a proven coach with experience at the TOP level.

1) I don't believe he was given 5 games as such. I believe the plan I speak of was developed over the course of the last few weeks and is an early result of the well publicised review.
2) Not sure. Media speak? What is said isn't always the truth. I guess we'll never know.
3) As coaching staff are not subject to the financial constraints of the salary cap I suspect the cost of a new head coach is not an issue. Ie, Koukash can probably afford both.
4) Don't know.
5) The former although once again, I don't know.
6) Don't know. Maybe.
7) It's a gamble to provide resources for an untested coach. It's safer to bring a proven winner in, if that's indeed what they do.
I believe the results argument is media speak. An agenda for success requires the right people in the right positions. Results aside (results that count for naf all when you consider that the team we have now is likely to change drastically over the coming weeks), PV is clearly not considered the man to succeed when said resources are put into action. That is, the interim coach will probably only be expected to get the team through to the next stage.

| It was mentioned in the GMR radio interview that the Doctor would sit down and review the video of Friday's game with Graham Lowe and Andrew Chalmers. I can only assume that with Lowe's experiance he saw enough to suggest the standard, organisation and tactics fell way below what he expects at professional level.
