| if all of the above turn us down because of image rights issues id go for
Patton - you arnt nicknamed the general if you arnt a leader
Holdsworth - he is our new heartbeat now alker has gone
Parker - solid leader experience
Adamson - has a leader look about him, young but isnt afraid to put his hand up if needed, may take him to the next level after a average year
Jewitt - controversal choice i know, had a good year this year and has started to control his "anger" and not give silly pens away, still fire in the belly and with the extra responsabilities may go and stay @ the next level

| Ractchford might be a dark horse for the captaincy (especially if we're going to have 5 captains?!) because he was doing an awful lots of the talking as the team gathered behind the sticks (far too many times?!) at Huddersfield on Sunday, particularly when Parker was off the field.

| I think making Adamson the main capt with a vice captain would be the wrong thing to do and to early for him. He's had abit of a mare this season. Partly due to the expectations on him to step up and make a claim for the national squad that everyone thinks he is destined for. He needs a couple more seasons to consolidate himself before having the extra added pressure of the captaincy IMO. I would Heartly have him as 1 of 5 though.

| On the subject of captains.
This manner of thinking seems far to progressive for Shaun McRae.

I dont think his average performance this year had anything to do with the added pressure of responsibilities this year (being 3rd in command behind alker and parker when neither were present, Away at leeds being my remembered highlight when he was in the ref's ear all game and kept team morale high)
but more to do with the necessary shoulder surgery (on both shoulder's) which has been required since murrayfield when a staggering 60+ tackles were made. (most of them stopping morley from the never ending restart's in the non stop hammering) This guy has been playing on with injury since then waiting for the right time to sit out and have surgery...
He lead's from the front, never duck's out of a challenge, never thinks twice and run's his blood to water... remind you of anyone?!
I can safely say that had we had a proper coach, "coach" being the key word here he would have progressed allot quicker in his attacking role and we would have genuine GB material in our squad.
The fact of the matter is (and im going off the point slightly here) our COACH, doesn't coach, and this isn't second hand info, he has talented seasoned players like holdsworth playing silly pointless exercises in training, and as for the likes of Adamson, ratchford and jewitt our key youth players that have stuck with and come from academy, these players have not been "COACHED" properly. Like the burgess brothers have, or a wide range of talented youth that have progressed and have coached thru the season's
Oh well i rambling now but I think until we get a millward, noble type up there who actually knows how to instruct players then our young hopefulls arent goping to progress like we'd hope and I doubt we can sack him and stick him on gardening duty with Mr Harrison as that would im sure dent our furture signing's

| 1) why call him "the general" then?
2) id hope with all his experience and being a marquee signing he'd be able to help the younger lads and lead us from the front.

Think Luke is too young for captaincy yet and after the signings that we have made, then i cannot see Parker playing too many games. Holdsworth for capatan and poss Cashmere for me

| By all accounts Phil Bailey is a natural leader both on and off the park. He's very good with the youngsters as well apparently so maybe he's and ideal captain, if not on the field then maybe as club captain?

| I was quite sceptical when Wigan annouced this at the start of the season , thought it was a get out , but speaking to Wigan fans who speak to the players it has gone down very well both on & off the pitch.
We've had nearly a decade of Alker trying to lead from the front now it's time for a change.
with the players staying on & the incoming experience we will have plenty of natural leaders on hand to make this work.
Patten Holdsworth Bailey Cashmere Anderson for instance and plenty of other candidates
far be it from me to decide !
