| Quote ="middleman"Fair Assessment , I'd say
two points ,
It was his better half that got homesick, not him if the story is true. and it sounds like the disruption affected his 2nd half performance.
He actually went back home to play in the NRL , after HKR released him. unlike our mate Joel Moon , who played the same card but got couldn't even be ar5ed with the pretext of a Qantas flight and got a taxi to Leeds instead.
Any new signing , especially a overseas signing is a gamble , as you cannot guarantee the level of performance or how they will fit into the team.
Providing Salford Quays very own Ramsey St will keep his wife happy ... & Iestyn can keep the Patersons mind on the Job he should prove quite useful .'"
Regarding the homesickness, he and his family must have considered it as part of their decision to come back over so, hopefully, it won't be as much of a problem this time. The fact that it's only a one year deal may help too.

| I don’t think Marwan once claimed it was a ‘big’ signing. I posted on the ‘New Signing’ topic that I was told it would be a big signing, all rumours though.
Cory also has friends and former team mates at Salford already in Michael Dobson and Junior Sa’u, plus the rest of our overseas signings appear to have settled well and are enjoying life in Salford. Which is a good sign.
It makes me laugh how on one hand rival supporters moan about how Koukash is managing Salford’s salary cap, yet then proceed to bag our new signings as a) not good enough or b) not a big enough name. Paterson is a very good addition to the team and strengthens us further in a position we now look very strong in.

| We don't know how Cory Paterson will perform in a Salford shirt, but his signing does continue the improvement in the squad on paper. I know that it's how the team performs on the pitch that counts and we don't know what will happen, though I live in hope tempered by my disappointments during the first half of last season.
This increased hope is based on the improvements I think I see in the 2015 squad.
Jake Mullaney is replaced by Kevin Locke; Danny Williams by Ben Jones-Bishop; Martin Gleeson and Francis Meli by Josh Griffin and Mason Caton-Brown. Tim Smith has gone and we've got Michael Dobson.
Shannon McPherson has been replaced by Scott Taylor; Steve Rapira by Weller Hauraki and Matty Ashurst by Cory Paterson. Stuart Howarth, Logan Tomkina and Gareth Owen have been replaced by Liam Hood, George Griffin, Carl Forster, Luke Menzies, Brad England, Matt Groat and Matty Gee.
Not all of the new signings will reach the heights; some will disappoint; others will over-achieve. Some of the signings are players to be developed. We will have to wait and see, but it seems to me we are in a much stronger position than last season, with no disrespect to any of the players who are leaving us.
I, for one, am certainly looking forward to next season.

| This isn't a troll at the genuine people from Hull but you'd think that living in Salford/Manchester offers his family more, not a 3 hr road trip after the flight, friends already in the area, more for families to do on a daily basis, better options for travel too see a bit of Europe and generally a better environment to bring a family to live in.
Hull and the surrounding area is a very nice part of the world but it isn't an internationally renowned big city with it's many varied activities.
I doubt the Doc has brought him over on a massive contract, more that he would be on a good bonus scheme if he performs with the carrot of a better deal for the second year if he delivers

| I have no doubts whatsoever that we will be much stronger next year. Better coaching setup and as mentioned above several stronger players. If this team doesn't make the top 8 cut I'd be very surprised.

| I can understand (and welcome) the odd Rovers fan coming on here to offer their thoughts on our new signing.
But I'm curious to know if any right-minded Turkey contributors (I think there are a few of us) go on to other fans boards and pass judgement when they sign a new player? Bar the odd higher profile announcement (Mossop to Wigan, Sims to Wire, etc) I have no idea who any of our opponents have signed for next season, and won't take much notice until the eve of the new season.
I assume we should be a flattered that we are garnering such attention?

| What a lot of opposition fans seem to forget is for the first time in a very long time we have competition for places in the pack and if any player dosen't perform then we now have the option of making changes.
That's not been the case for a long time

| I take it all with a pinch of salt. It's just a windup because our owner has splashed some big cash over the last 18 months. A lot of people would love nothing more than to see us fail, that's life.

| Pleased with this signing. Not loads better than we already have but gives us another strike player rather than a hard working Hansen, Hauraki, Dixon, J Walne type. Could cover the centres at a push (not a long term solution but could cover for a game or two) as he runs the right lines and has good hands. Hope it doesn't push Walne and Dixon too far down the pecking order but I'm sure they will get their chances with injuries and suspensions likely in the back row at times.
As many have said another prop might have been better than a back rower but with Tasi, Taylor, Griffin, Puletua, Morley, A Walne and the two making the step up from the championship that isn't bad at all - 6 all plenty good enough for SL and a couple of unknowns
Hooker remains the weakest position but am excited at the prospect of Hood making the grade
There isn't much cover at half back either. We only need a half back and a hooker injured at the same time and we will struggle to fill the 3 key positions

Don't forget Evalds as extra cover in the halves, I think many assume he's a fullback/winger and aren't aware that he played 6 for the academy.
I also find it interesting when fans post what they believe to be the teams strongest 17. Personally I'd love nothing more than to see 2/3 youngsters make their mark and push out a few others. If this happens it will make us much stronger.

| Good point, I'd included Evalds in a post on the virtual terrace about our half backs but then forgot about him on here! Would be a gamble as he's unproven at this level but I have every confidence he would do a job for us wherever he played. Looks very talented and, more importantly at his age, confident in his ability
And I agree about the youngsters. I think, in particular, if Evalds, Fages and the two Walnes get a decent run of games they will be hard to dislodge. Don't know much about Ford or the new youngsters we've signed

| I would like to see Jordan Walne really kick on this year, he's got Hansen, Hock, Hauraki and Paterson infront of him but I have every faith in the lad. Luckily between those four you imagine a few injuries and suspensions will give Walne opportunities.

| The working environment for our young players must be very good these days with the coaching and facilities. If you consider we have a handful of academy lads who were excellent at that level 2-3 years ago, these young players must be chomping at the bit now for an opportunity. I'm sure they'll be putting everything into this pre season to give themselves the best chance of breaking into the 17.

Not exactly what I would be expecting by the way of a "big name" signing to be honest. Doubt any SL team is going to fear playing against him are they!'"

I've told you before I don't do twitter so the only time I see his tweets is when some one posts them on here and that means I can't be one of the responders. My post was meant to be humorous just like the thread on here entitled " Please take a moment to laugh" which I took in good part and responded in keeping with it. Just try and lighten up mate, you can get that sense of humour by pass reversed. As I've also told you before, I'm just some one who has played and coached the game and now like to watch it and interact with fans of my own and other clubs. If this makes me ignorant then fair enough, I don't think I'll ever be a master[size=85de[/sizebater like you
